  • USC Trojans. Rose Bowl Champs and Pre-Season 2007 #1

It was a rough rebuilding season. But, we won the PAC-10 championship and the Rose Bowl after 2 tough losses to Oregon State and UCLA. We will probably finish in the top 5 after 2 National Championships and a second place finish last year to Texas.

Our defense will be scary good next year and if the young receivers can step it up, we will be hard to beat once again.

You should see this year's recruiting class. Several players who are the number 1 player in their position in the country.

As long as we don't get sanctioned by the Reggie Bush situation, we should be set for the rest of the decade.

Congratulations to USC on its big win over Michigan. I wish that these bowl teams would play each other closer to the end of the regular season because a month plus to get ready for a bowl game creates different teams.

Its hard determine if this Michigan team was playing the same way it was when it was ranked No. 2 in the polls. If these 2 teams were playing similar to their regular season play, then USC exposed the flaw in the polls because Michigan should never have been a No. 2 team.

To me, giving Pete Carroll a month plus to get ready for your team is a distinct disadvantage. Likewise, I think Jim Tressel is also very good at game planning when given a extended time period. Because of that opinion, I believe that Ohio State will win the BCS championship.

Boca, I agree, USC should be set for a number of years if the Reggie Bush mess doesn't hurt it.

If Ohio States loses to FL who will be number one?

USC is number two right now.

It is hard to believe the difference in the two teams that showed up. USC looked better than they did the whole season and Michigan looked aweful. They weren't ready for the Trojans at all. Now, if this game was a month ago, it could have been a different story. I always want the Big Ten to win but yesterday, USC was the better team. Hands down.

            Ryne,

To answer your question, if FL wins (fat chance) then they will be the national champs. USC looked impressive but they have 2 losses and I would give Boise State the title before USC.

Articles in La Times hint that Pete Carroll may be headed to the NFL's Cardinals, although Pete Carroll is denying such rumors.

I follow USC football pretty closely. Pete Carroll isn't going anywhere.

USC will probably end up about number 5. That's about right.

Whoever wins the BCS championship game is the clear National Champion.

Wisconsin and Ohio State should definitely be ranked above USC no matter what happens in the rest of the games.

The highest we can get is number 3 and that is if Louisville, Florida and LSU all lose. In all liklihood one or two of those teams will lose and we will end up 3 or 4.

A 2 loss team doesn't deserve to win the National Championship. Same was true of the 2002 Trojan team which finished 4 with 2 losses.

                  Fight on USC

It was a tough rebuilding season...mental breakdowns at key points just like last years Rose Bowl which USC should have won. I still miss Norm Chow. Yet USC pulled it off in grand style this year at the Rose Bowl.

College football really needs a playoff and a true final to name the national champion. Every team that can win in the post season deserves a shot...from Boise State to the Cardinals to the Trojans.

It should be an exciting season...the recruiting is still fantastic and now we are getting another defector:

Damian Williams reportedly transferring to USC

Wide receiver Damian Williams, who asked for a release from his scholarship after playing a season at Arkansas, has decided to transfer to the University of Southern California, according to a published report...

Williams' father told the Los Angeles Times that his son is in the process of registering for the spring semester at USC.

...Williams was named to the Southeastern Conference all-freshman team after making 19 receptions for 235 yards and two touchdowns last season. He missed the No. 12 Razorbacks' 17-14 loss Monday to No. 6 Wisconsin in the Capital One Bowl in Orlando, Fla...

                    Red,

I saw that on the USC message board. That would be truly exciting. The biggest issue next year is that we have a lot of tough road games. That will make it next to impossible to end up undefeated.

I would love to see a football playoff. There is so much dead time between the end of the regular season and the bowl games that it would be very easy to do. But, we won't see if for decades.

Say bye bye to DJ....he is awesome. I think he will go first round NFL. The guy cried about leaving his Trojan teammates and the Trojan family a year early but he has to do what is best for his family. I understand and wish him the best.

I know DJ has good hands and is big, but how fast is he? Is he a sub 4.5 sec player or will he be another Keyshawn Johnson possession receiver?
