Mario ended up playing on one foot for more than half of the season as a result of an injury. He was so hurt that most weeks he didn't practice. He learned how to be a professional. Also, he handled all of the stupid questions magnificantly, like "Were the Texans stupid in selecting you?"
Do the Texans regret his selection? No. They are still very excited about having him upgrade their defense.
Do 99.9% of the Texans' fans regret his selection? Yes because of Vince Young and Reggie Bush.
Will the Texans' fans regret his selection in 10 years, if Mario plays up to his potential? Yes because of Vince Young and Reggie Bush.
You don't understand how much Houston loves VY; he's been highlighted for his prowlness and excitement since he was in high school here. Everyone in Houston knew he should have won the Heisman, not R Bush, that Texas would beat USC because USC had never seen anyone like him, and that he would be successful very quickly in the NFL if the right team got him. To me, VY is probably with the right team in the Titans and coach Jeff Fisher.
Mario is a super guy and apparently, quite a potential future All Pro. He will never score TD's or pass or run or make ESPN's highlights for walking on the field like VY and RB. He will probably anchor an improved Texans D-line for 10 to 15 years, more years than RB will ever play.
