    Buffalo in orlando

the sabres first playoff game (vs ny Islandrs) was on april 12, we were in Orlando FL and my 16 yo was having a fit because he's an avid fan (like all of us) so we found this sports bar on Int. drive called Fridays( I think it's a TGIF) any how, we go in and the whole place is packed with sabres fans and at least half the tv's have the game on. The waiters didnt get it -but the place felt like home. the sabres won which made the whole night awesome.

Hockey time means SHARKS but so far they haven't been able to play hockey because they are too busy watching their backs. Go Sharks.

Is there a difference between the Stanley Cup and Lord's Stanley's cup? If that truly is Lord Stanley's cup, he ought to be more famous.

Amazing tradition letting people drag that cup around anywhere and everywhere.

                    Yeah Ducks.

CaliDave and I went to watch the Ducks close out the Wild. It is over 4 games to 1.

Now awaiting the re-seed to see who we play next.

                        It Miller Time!

After a poor performance by the SABRES in the third period they relied on there #1 star RYAN MILLER to beat the islanders -4 to 3 to close out the series 4 games to 1.

Also- congrats go out to calidave & 4ared october on there wins also. looks like the playoffs are are about to get interesting.

                        GO SABRES

I grew up in Canada and played hockey from the age of 4. I also played in industrial leagues in Portland and Phoenix in the 60's. I was always a fan of Les Habitats ( Montreal ) back in the days of the Richard brothers, Jean Beliveau, Boom Boom Geoffrion, etc. However, John Ferguson changed all of that when he tried to break Bobby Hull's jaw which was actually healing from a previous break. Ferguson was one of the dirtiest players to have ever played the game. After that I was a Bruins fan because of Bobby Orr which I consider to be one of the most talented and classiest guys to ever play the game.

I have read just about every book ever published about the history of the Stanley Cup which has a very colorful past. Did you know that it was once drop kicked into the Ottawa River, or left beside the side of the road in the Yukon. The cup has not always been the trophy of the NHL. The Victoria Cougars won it in 1925.

"The first winner was a Montreal team that finished atop the Amateur Hockey Association of Canada, considered the best league going at the time. But in its early years, the prize was not exclusive to one hockey league, nor was it meant to be. It was a challenge cup, changing hands in much the same way as a boxing title. Contenders issued challenges, and the champions held the Cup for as long as they could fend off all comers. Independent trustees ensured that legitimate challenges were met on a regular basis.

In later years, as professionalism swept the game, it was accepted that the Stanley Cup could not remain exclusive to amateur teams. The Stanley Cup officially turned pro in 1910, when the National Hockey Association took possession of it. But it was not until 1926 that the National Hockey League emerged indisputably as the top league in North America, effectively taking control of the Cup. That control was formalized in an agreement signed with the Cup trustees in 1947."

In the past few years I have become a fan of the San Jose Sharks and have attended many games at the HP Pavilion in San Jose that I consider to be the finest hockey arenas that I have seen and I have seen many.

I could go on and on but this is probably enough for now.
                            John

Steve, yes, that Lord Stanley must have been quite a guy!!

I'm thoroughly depressed. The Canucks have had two chances to get the job done and now we're down to one game takes it. They didn't play well at all yesterday.
