Should the NFL Ban Vick for Life?

I do not think he should banned for life, I also believe that no one in the NFL will want to hire him again. After he does his time, he should be allowed to work wherever he can find employment. He should not be allowed to own any animals. But community service at an animal shelter might do him good.

1000 hours of community service at an animal shelter is a fantastic idea. It would be good for the animals, and might even help Mr. Vick's damaged soul.

Burn him! He is a sick individual to pit dog vs. dog. These creatures don't know any better. He only served as the evil mentor. Then he tossed them aside and killed the poor animals. What kind of example does that set for the rest of us!

Yes I am an avid animal lover! I have 3 cats of my own all rescued strays. I also stop to help stray dogs and cats whenever the opportunity arises!

I'm certain the Raider's would take him. But my opinion is he should be banned for life. Kids look up to outstanding sports figures and they need to set an example, or at least not a horribly bad example.

Michael Vick absolutely should be banned from the NFL for life. He should never be looked up to as a hero or an example again.

As horrible as his crimes are, do you really think there is no chance of redemption?

What if, for instance, he had a genuine change of heart, did a couple thousand hours of high-profile volunteer work at an animal shelter, and then pledged to donate half his salary to the SPCA or some other animal rights organization? What if he set up and funded his own shelter for abused animals?

Would you then let him resume his career?

The man can't make amends to the animals he killed, but he has the resources to save a LOT of other animals from similar fates.

In the scheme of things, very few criminal actions place the criminal beyond all hope of redemption. In most cases, there is room for a change of heart, and the door needs to be open for people to redeem themselves.

If the Judge gives Vick 1000 or 2000 hours of work in an animal shelter it is considered Mandatory, not "Voluntary."

He would show me true Redemption by continuing to work at the animal shelters after serving the Mandatory hours.

Vick's NFL contract was for over $130 million dollars. We also made millions from endorsements.

Giving 1/10 of this income to the animal shelters might also make me believe, he had true Redemption.

When ever I messed up my mom said I had to prove myself worthy to get a second chance, she didn't just hand out second chances. I had to work at it.

While Michael was at VA TECH he danced around the law as if it really didn't apply to him. The same was true for his brother and they both were given second chances, more than once. What he and Marcus both need is a sit down classroom with instructions of how to behave in the world and learn there are rules and how to live by them. Their problems run much deeper than we know.

I can endorse the "the door needs to be open" but would have to exclude the part of setting up his own shealter. Fund shealters yes but NO CONTACT with any animals of any kind, period !

How could he have a change of heart? He obviously enjoyed what he was doing and felt no wrong in abusing the poor animals in his care as well as horrible deaths BY HIS HANDS!!

How do you look back and have a change of heart? He had to have enjoyed this horrific thing he did! I will never, ever believe he had a change of heart if you can do things like that.You have to be sick beyond believe to do things like that. I certainly do belive he is sorry as hell he was caught both in his crimes and for all the lies to everyone involved with him.

He should never, NEVER be part of a public entertainment again. As mentioned, kids look up to these vastly overpaid sports heros. What kind of example does that set for chlldren? As long as you are rich enough and famous enough you can get by with horrible things? I honestly belive an example should be made loud and clear to the public that these things will never ever be tolerated.

How can someone compare dog fighting (illegal) to hunting (legal with a license). Maybe I wasn't aware of a license to fight dogs, not to mention the gambling that goes along with it.

Btw, there is also a greyhound refuge and adoption center in our area.

No, don't ban him from playing football. Simply subject him to a locker room prank, as follows: Tie him up to a goalpost, nice and tight. Wrap his legs in nice juicy steaks and pour some nice fresh butcher shop blood on the rest of his bod. Let out the dogs...let's say, pitbulls that haven't been fed in a week...let them follow their noses. Let them have their way with Vick for a half hour or so. Suitable punishment, methinks.

Michael Vick agreed to a plea agreement that did not admit to killing dogs or betting on the fights despite what the other witnesses said. It sounds like he is going the route of Pete Rose.

I hope the judge cancels the plea agreement and the DA goes for the whole truckload.

If he does not plea to all of it, i agree that they should cancel the plea agreement.

If he does plead to the charge of dogfighting, can he then stand trial on the charge of killing and gambling?

When I heard that this morning, I was really angry. They need to haul his ass into court and try him on all counts. And if he's found to be guilty as charge, never allowed to play in the NFL again! I'm outraged at the level of support Vick's been getting in the media and from other professional athletes, as though what he did was no problem. Maybe in other countries such savage treatment of animals is acceptable, but here in the USA we're supposed to be a bit more civilized and protective of domesticated animals like dogs.
