I've seen that most baseball records seem to start in 1900. Does anyone count records from before 1900?

I asked because Boggs & Ichiro both have 7 200 hit seasons in a row, but my paper says the record is held by someone from 1894-1901. I didn't think that records before 1900 where counted.

There were major rule changes that occurred in around 1900, leading to what is now called the "modern era". Rule changes were quite substantial, involving the construction of the baseball, the distance to the pitchers mound, allowing a pitcher to throw overhand, how many balls and strikes a player was allowed, and even whether a foul ball should be counted as a strike.

“This is a blouse and skirt. I don't know what you're talking about.”

    “You shouldn't wear that body.”

Baseball-Reference.com - Major League Baseball Statistics and History - this one has stats from 1871
"If a Nation expects to be ignorant and free in a state of civilization, it expects what never was and never will be.... If we are to guard against ignorance and remain free, it is the responsibility of every American to be informed."
