The Pack is 9 and 1...............Maybe this is why!!

    Elway vs. Favre

John Elway, after living a full life, died. When he got to heaven, God
was showing him around. They came to a modest little house with a faded
    Broncos flag in the window.

"This house is yours for eternity, John," said God. "This is very
special; not everyone gets a house up here."

John felt special, indeed, and walked up to his house. On his way up the
porch, he noticed another house just around the corner. It was a 3-
story mansion with a green and gold sidewalk, a 50 foot tall flagpole
with an enormous Packers flag, and in every window, a cheese-head.

John looked at God and said, "God, I'm not trying to be ungrateful, but
    I have a question. I was an all-pro QB, I won 2 Super Bowls, and I even
went to the Hall of Fame."

God said, "So what do you want to know, John?"

"Well, why does Brett Favre get a better house than me?"

God chuckled and said, "John, that's not Brett Favre's house. It's
    mine."

    Hey Thirsty,
I posted similar, albeit about my Tommy's house, on 1-2007.
    See here http://www.timeshareforums.com/forum...ngs-house.html
It was fun to see it with this QB (although more believable with my Tommy v. Peyton, though )

Make that the Pack 10 and 1

They are now 10 and 1 and this is why....

A devout Packer fan died and had just arrived in heaven (that's where all Packer fans go, you know). He was talking to an angel trying to get the lowdown on what heaven was going to be like. He asked the angel if there were any former packers in heaven.

The angel replied, "Sure, all the greats are here."

He then asked the angel if they played football and the angel replied that in heaven, every day is Packer Sunday and the Pack always wins.

Being very excited the fan asked if Vince Lombardi was there and as he asked, he saw a man with dark rimmed glasses, a heavy overcoat, and a cap that looked strangely like the one Vince Lombardi wore in the Ice Bowl.

When asked excitedly if that was him, if that was Vincent T. Lombardi, the angel replied, "No, that was God. He likes to act like he's Lombardi."

        A good joke never dies.

        It just gets retold.

Sometimes adapted to the circumstances, I enjoyed both versions.

Unfortunately, a good portion of the country will not be able to see the game since it is on the NFL Network.

IRVING, Texas -- Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones is still urging NFL fans to pull the plug on cable, especially those who want to see next week's NFC showdown of 10-1 teams on NFL Network.

The NFL Network has been in a dispute with large cable providers who don't carry the network on a basic tier. The network is available in about 35 million of the nation's more than 111 million homes with televisions.

"I am frustrated that we've got literally several million fans that won't get to see that game because Time Warner won't be carrying it," Jones said after the Cowboys' 34-3 victory over the New York Jets. I hope those fans will go to AT&T satellite or go over to a competing cable company."

Jones is the outspoken chairman of the league's NFL Network committee. His comments came just three days after Comcast, the nation's largest cable company, sent a cease-and-desist letter to the NFL Network demanding the channel's representatives stop encouraging fans to leave the cable provider.

"I know I have been given a cease and desist to quit saying that, but that is a fact," Jones said. "It's frustrating to think millions of Cowboys and Packers fans won't be able to see it."

Fans in each local market will be able to see the game. NFL rules require that games televised on cable must be made available to an over-the-air provider in the home market cities.

We must live in Gods country.

We must live in Gods country out here in LA since we get the NFL channel and had the pleasure of watching the Packers win yesterday.

I don't know if it is in the basic tier here or not. We get several addon tiers so I'll have to go and check.

It doesn’t get much bigger than Dallas vs. Green Bay, with NFC regular-season supremacy on the line in a Thursday night showdown at Texas Stadium.

Here are 10 reasons why the hype is justified:

                  1. Anyone suggesting this is just one of 16 games on the schedule is a liar. The winning team will all but lock up home-field advantage throughout the NFC playoffs by gaining a virtual two-game lead in the quest for the coveted No. 1 playoff seed.

                  2. The last time a pair of teams with records of 10-1 or better squared off in the regular season was 1990, when Brett Favre was wearing a black-and-gold Southern Mississippi uniform and Tony Romo was in grade school.

                  3. Speaking of starting quarterbacks, this game pits two of the best in the business. Romo has been mentioned as a Favre clone and will face his boyhood idol for the first time. It gets even better, because Romo grew up in Burlington as an avid Packers fan.

                  4. The Packers can erase some miserable memories. Who can forget the seven straight beat-downs suffered by the Packers from 1993 to 1996 in Dallas, including elimination from the playoffs three consecutive years? All seven losses came by double-digit margins, with the Cowboys averaging 33 points per game.

                  5. Favre never has won in Dallas. Before this season, he never had won in Denver or Kansas City, either, so here’s another chance to add to his long list of achievements.

                  6. The all-time regular-season series is tied at 10 games each, although the Cowboys hold a 4-2 edge in postseason play and have won 13 of the last 17 games dating to 1978.

                  7. The Packers can take out their frustrations on the seemingly biased NFL schedule makers. This marks the ninth time in the last 11 meetings the game will be in Dallas. One way the Packers can reverse that trend is by winning and setting up a rematch on the Frozen Tundra, where the prospect of the shivering Cowboys playing at Lambeau Field in January is appealing. With the 40th anniversary of the Ice Bowl being celebrated this season, it would be fitting to stage Ice Bowl II.

                  8. Would there be anything more satisfying for the Packers than seeing cornerback Al Harris shut down and shut up receiver Terrell Owens? No one is happier than T.O. when he gets the ball. Other than a toddler who doesn’t get his way, no one turns sour faster than T.O. when he isn’t an integral part of the Cowboys’ offense.

                  9. Besides keeping T.O. in his place, would there be anything more satisfying for the Packers than serving up a large slice of humble pie to Cowboys owner Jerry Jones? Jones was viewed as arrogant in the early 1990s when the Cowboys were winning three Super Bowls in a four-year span. He has been much more tolerable in the past decade when the Cowboys have failed to win a playoff game.

                  10. Who is America’s Team? The Cowboys and their fans like to think it’s them, but the underdog and youthful Packers have a chance to capture a lot of hearts with a victory.

I'm with ya Birchman! I am hoping for a Packers' win too! Lots on the line and Brett's looking good with an outstanding group of young receiving talent.

We went to their game in KC and had a blast . . . and are looking forward to seeing them down in St. Louis in three weeks. It's just a shame that local Wisconsin fans can't get tickets to see them up in GreenBay without paying an arm and a leg. Well, unless you are native to Wisconsin . . . or got on the season ticket list 20 years ago.

Twenty years ago I was a die-hard Redskins' fan having been born and raised there. Couldn't get tickets to their games either. Nice to have a common NFL enemy with either club. Disliking the Dallas Cowboys runs deep for me . . . at least 35 or 40 years!!

                    GO PACK!
