What a shock, He had a stroke yesterday and is gone today at 45. An athlete that is in good shape although he was on the heavy side I am sure he was in better shape than many.
RIP
I read he had diabetes and that he had lost vision in one eye as well as gaining more and more weight.....many people were worried about his health long before this. Wow....45 years old....the guy was great....too bad. Condolences to his family.

Diabetes is a terrible disease. Many people think that if you have diabetes (especially Type 2), all you have to do is exercise & watch what you eat, and you'll be fine. Even many doctors think that, if a Type 2 diabetic is having problems, it must be their own fault. I don't know about Kirby Puckett, but I've watched my husband Tom struggle with diabetes, and I know that doing everything right isn't always enough. Tom had a heart attack while still in his 30s, despite doing everything the doctors said.
My condolescences to Puckett's family, and I hope doctors stop blaming patients and put that effort into research instead.
