  • Has Anyone Been To the US Open Tennis Tournament in NY?

This year I am doing an US Open Double.

I went to the US Open Golf Tournament and I will be at the US Open Tennis Tournament from Thursday to Sunday of this week.

We will be going there during the day sessions only. And we will be seeing NY at night. Any suggestions?

Looking forward to seeing some good tennis.

Yes, it is fantastic. Both day sessions and night sessions are great. I usually just scalp tickets for the night sessions. I went to the epic John MacEnroe vs. Michael Chang match. That was unbelievable.

I am going next year. I am staying at the Manhattan Club and we, too, will be doing day sessions with night life. Night life will be musicals/plays and restaurants. Can't miss on either of those.

I used to go regularly and often when the Open was hosted by my hometown of Forest Hills, NY. All of us kids did as we all got jobs at the stadium. Not to mention selling parking spots in our families driveways.

I have been a few times since they moved to Flushing but no plans for this year.

      Have a great time Walt.

This is great time to be in the city, so many residents are on vacation and away, especially for Labor Day weekend, and our weather the past few days has been unseasonably pleasant.

Do try to steer clear of the Times Square tourist area other than to see it once and for any Broadway shows you are going to. Explore some other neighborhoods... there are plenty of great restaurants downtown to enjoy if you don't need to be midtown for theatre.

my son and dil are going for the second year. Not staying in as luxurious accomodations as Boca bum, they are sacking out at her sister's apartment. My son says it is the size of a dining room. Her sister is doing her residency (medical) in Manhattan.

              Hi Frank,

I just got back one hour ago. I didn't see your post until now. We stayed at the Kimberly Hotel.

Sorry we couldn't meet. Maybe next year.

We had a great time. The tennis was great. The New Yorkers were helpful and friendly.

Someday, I'd like to do the tennis grand slam. Sydney, Paris, London and New York. I think I'll wait until Agassi and Sampras' kids get old enough to be contenders.
