Hey Jim- the Iowa State gals pulled one off beating Michigan State after being down by 7 with 1:25 left (I almost turned the game off). I heard "here we go Spartans, here we go" a few times.

Down to the last games- Mich. St vs UNC looks to me like a toss up'

For the Women- UCONN vs Louisville 3 (just like my ESPN bracket pick). Looks like a UCONN win and perfect season- but this should be a lot closer than the blowout when they played for the big east tournament championship.

        The UCONN women are awesome.

        Stanford who?

Did you see the graphic showing that Stanford is the only school west of Texas that has never gone to the Final Four?

        What's up with that?

Good question. I remember when I went to school in Iowa and first saw the girls basketball tournament posters- I thought it was a hoax - girls didn't play basketball in Connecticut. Well it wasn't a hoax and they did have a tournament in Des Moines every year. Well, maybe the east and west were behind the curve in womens' basketball, but on the collegiate level, schools like Old Dominion, La Tech and Tennessee began playing the best college ball in the east and southeast. The west apparently never caught up- with the exception of Stanford. Diana Taurasi was a California girl- but she went 3000 miles from home to play at Uconn and win 3 National championships. Maybe the west will never catch up with the quality players all wanting to go to established contenders. Uconn did not become a big name overnight and only really got a women's basketball program going strong after they hired Geno Auriemma- then they got to the final four in 1991, winning the title first in 1995. Oklahoma announced the end of women's basketball-but the protest uproar made them keep the program and now it is one of the big 12's best.

A little off-topic, but there's a lot of that program slashing going on. When I was at Moo U, there was a heckuva baseball program. The head coach coached the Olympic team, a new stadium was built, and they went to the College World Series. I even sorta played a year . . . well, some of year.

Now it's a club sport, like rugby was back then.

UCONN's top recruit at the beginning of the year was an east coaster that decided to go play volleyball at Delaware because she really didn't like basketball.
She could have been a nice back up at center for Tina Charles this year.

I noticed the Kansas women played in the NIT final today, and it was at KU.

Carolina Blue rules NCAA college basketball for the next 12 months. But the college with the most NCAA Basketbal Title is still UCLA. A total of Ten (10) NCAA Men Basketball Title.

My son is a Carolina Fan, but dads heart is still at UCLA.

Perfection (again x 3), never challenged, national champs for the sixth time and UCONN will be back again next year with all but one great starter.
