  • Kentucky Derby and Triple Crown Entries

It's that time of year, the preps are finished with some nice races from a talented group of three year olds.

    Here is the current line-up:

    Pioneer of the Nile
    I Want Revenge
    Quality Road
    Chocolate Candy
    Dunkirk
    Friesan Fire
    Win Willy
    Old Fashioned
    West Side Bernie
    Desert Party
    Musket Man
    The Pamplemousse (?)
    Beethoven
    Hold Me Back
    Regal Ransom
    Mafaaz
    Square Eddy
    Vineyard Haven

The 2 year old champ Midshipman has sustained an injury and will not run the spring classics. A real pity as I liked that horse and thought he had a shot.

Pamplemousse scratched for yesterday's race but has enough earning to qualify if healthy.

My favorite at the moment is I Want Revenge who overcame a horrible start in the Wood yesterday to win the race with plenty left. Same ownership as Big Brown. Hopefully not the same luck.

Pioneer of the Nile deserves some serious looking at. Quality horse on synthetic tracks. He's won 4 stakes races in a row. What he'll do on dirt is anyone's guess.

That's what they say. Nice bloodlines on him.

Mr. Fantasy, third in Gotham, is off Derby trail - ESPN

OZONE PARK, N.Y. -- Mr. Fantasy, the third-place finisher in the Grade 3 Gotham Stakes, will not run in the Grade 1, $750,000 Wood Memorial on April 4 and is off the Kentucky Derby trail, said Terry Finley, head of the group that owns the New York-bred colt.

Finley, president of West Point Thoroughbreds, said Mr. Fantasy will instead be pointed to the Grade 3, $150,000 Withers Stakes, a one-mile, one-turn race here at Aqueduct on April 25. Finley did not discount that race leading to a start in the Preakness on May 17.
"That's in the back of our minds," said Finley, who also mentioned other spots such as the Woody Stephens, a seven-furlong race at Belmont on June 6, and the Big Apple Triple, a three-race series restricted to New York-breds that Mr. Fantasy's brother, Tin Cup Chalice, swept last year to earn a $250,000 bonus.

I think Arnold is too old. We'll look for them at the Fall classics!

I hope Melvin will share pics from the Derby again though!

Lawren this is but it a question that came up the other day with my friends and I said I know just the right person that has the answer. How do horses sleep? standing up or laying down. Don't laugh but this is a tough question if you do not know and your piss drunk with a bunch of guys drinking.

Frank they will lie down for short bits about 30 minutes but will generally sleep standing up as their weight makes it difficult for them to breathe well laying down for too long.

I've know many to lay flat out on the ground like they are dead sun bathing in the spring.

I bet that at least 50% of the people you ask do not know this. Thank's I will print this for our next drink night which is Thursday.
