  • Why is this happening - MLB playoffs?

In seven game playoffs they normally have 2 games in the city of the team with the best record, then 2 in the other city, then switch, to one , one & one. They also have a day off with each city switch.

OR they have 2 games in the first city, 3 in the next, then the last 2 back in the first city. Again with days off with each city switch.

Why did baseball not do that this year? They did the 2,3, 2 arrangement but did the days off like it was a 2,2,1,1,1 arrangement. Why was there a day off between games 4 & 5?

Did they just want to push the play-offs so late into Oct, that they could be sure that bad weather would be a problem?

The game scheduling is established by the television broadcasters. It's devised to maximize the number of games played in prime time in large markets and to work around other major sports events, including college and pro football.
“Maybe you shouldn't dress like that.”

“This is a blouse and skirt. I don't know what you're talking about.”

      “You shouldn't wear that body.”

Also, it's a built-in bad weather replacement day. It came in handy when it snowed in Colorado.

World Series - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Since the Series takes place in October, sportswriters many years ago dubbed the event the Fall Classic, a usage reflected in the official symbols of the 2008 World Series; it is also sometimes known as the October Classic or simply The Series.

Haven't you heard, Baseball wants to make the World Series the "November Classic." So who will be named Mr. November?

Forty years ago, the Mets won their first title on Oct. 16. Fifty years ago, all was said and done for the World Series champion Los Angeles Dodgers by Oct. 8.
