  • Orlando Places for ROLLER COASTER LOVERS

Ok, we are going to Orlando in October for our 1st trip there (I have been there on business, but this is our first vacation there).

So, we have 1 week and we LOVE roller coasters. Also, we live in the Los Angeles area, so don't want to waste our time doing the same things we can do here.

So, we think that the regular Universal Studios will be too much of the same.
We think that Disneyworld will be too close to Disneyland where we go all of the time.
We have passes to Sea World in San Diego and the San Diego Zoo so we don't want to go to those types of places.

We definitely will go to Universal Islands of Adventure.
We deinitely will go to Epcot (not for the coasters, but interesting place)
We might consider Disney's MGM Studios.

    What else do you recommend?

Islands of Adventure has tthe best coasters, also Universal Studios has a new one called Rip & Rocket RollerCoaster. It is great!!

I don't know if your Sea World has coasters but the one in Orlando has a couple, one of which is Manta that is fun.

    Epcot has Space Track.

Have fun, you'll have a great time. shaggy

PS Don't worry about the similarites, you'll find enough different to keep you going.

Also Bush Gardens in Tampa has some great coasters

Is Bush Gardens in Tampa close enough to be worth it....or should we do something else in Orlando like Kennedy? We are staying at Marriott Grande Vista, so I am ok with just lounging for a day or two and enjoying the pool.

I d/n think the KSC was worth it and our kids were bored. Seemed geared toward littler kids, not our coaster junkies. If you are staying at Grande Vista, there is plenty of lounging to be done there.

On our second Orlando trip we skipped Disney altogether and bought a discounted week-long pass to Universal/Islands of Adventure. On our "down" days, my guys went back to IOA for a few hours just to do their favorites. Epcot is def worth doing, and MGM has some great thrill rides.

If we did KSC, it would be for us, not kids (we are not bringing the kids on this trip). So, your opinion is that it is not very exciting?

          Sounds like:

3 day Park Hopper to Universal. Spend most of our time at IOA and maybe hit regular US to catch the new coasters.

1 day pass to Disney MGM
          1 day pass to Epcot

Hang out by the pool, relax the rest of the time. Did I miss anything important?

You could combine KSC with a few hours at Cocoa Beach, if you enjoy beach and are going in the warmer months - then it'd be worth the drive, imo.

We rode the Manta at Sea World last summer. It was AWESOME! Never had that kind of roller coaster experience before. You ride face down!
