  • WDW second increase in 2006!

I love the place but this is getting crazy...

Anyone feel this is going to affect their Disney plans?

Woohoo! My unused days on my park hopper passes just increased in value!

Seriously, they are a bit greedy aren't they? More evidence of the true Disney magic.

      Price Increase at Disney Parks

Pretty soon will be cheaper to stay at hotels than go to the park. Or is it already?

I'm glad I got the obligatory family vacation to Disneyworld out of the way about 10 years ago. I would probably have to seriously think about whether I would want to spend that amount of money today.

Saved passes will save me some $$ the next trip!

I forgot my 6 day adult pass and child pass at home last year when I got to Disney. I bought new one and kept the ones at home for the next trip to Disney. I was bummed at the time, but now it seems to be working out pretty good for me.

Disney is a very expensive trip. We were there last year, and noticed an increase in prices from a couple of years ago.

The Disney parks, hotels, and timeshares are wonderful. The great service, and attention to detail is obvious, but you also pay highly for the experience.

BTW, I'm still keeping track of how many times you annoy me.

We did DisneyLAND when our son was much younger ( we really liked Toonville, Toonland there. It was perfect for his age at the time. I don't think they have that at DWorld.)

I don't see how people with multiple children can continue to come up with the prices DW etc charge.

Now that he is older much prefer Universal for the rollercoasters. Although Universal got rid of their fastpass ( you now must pay a premium ) it is still a better value than Disney for us.

Busch Gardens and their waterpark in Williamsburg is probably the best value of them all if you get the multi-day park hoppers

              http://www.buschgardens.com/bgw/ticket_options.aspx

Two-Day Ticket with Bonus 3rd Day - For a limited time, the Busch Gardens 2-Day Ticket now includes a Bonus 3rd Day, with unlimited admission to Busch Gardens Williamsburg and Water Country USA for up to 3 consecutive calendar days from date of first use. You can visit Busch Gardens in the morning, Water Country USA in the afternoon, or visit one park for the whole day – it’s all up to you! Daily parking not included.

              $69.95 Ages 3 & over

I love Disney World and my life would be much poorer without it, regardless of the expense.

If one plans on multiple Disney trips, like I do, then it makes sense to buy a no-expiration ticket with as many days as possible, and save the left-over days for the next trip. Right now, a 10 day no-expiration adult ticket is $343.00 at www.ticketmania.com. For $43 more, you also get 6 days at the "minor parks" (water parks, Pleasure Island, and Disney Quest), so that's 16 total days (including the "minor parks") for $386.00, which is really not bad on a per day basis. (Adding in "park hopping" costs $43 more.)

Also, Disney actually has a substantial amount of free entertainment at the hotels, outside the parks, and you don't have to be staying at the hotels to enjoy it. So, it's quite possible to do a Disney trip where you go to the main parks just part of the time, and do free stuff or the cheaper minor parks the rest of the time. One of those 10 day tickets would probably be good for three week-long vacations, if you used it that way. That would be $143 per trip.

Another option is an annual pass, especially if you go at least once a year. You can go in late July 2006, say, and come back in early July 2007, and the annual pass is still good. DVC owners get a hefty discount on annual pass, too, even if they own just a tiny package of a few points.

                  Judy,

I agree there is nothing like it and for those that only go to the parks, you are missing part of the fun... Even when we are staying off-site we visit the hotels, the mini golf courses (great themeing), etc.. there is more to WDW than just the parks.

We try to utilize the annual passes also as they run about the same at 10 day passes and even if you only go once a year but for two weeks, it is cheaper. If you can roll two trips in the same 12 months, you do well.

I have heard about the discounts for annual passes for DVC members but never heard how much... any idea of what the discount is?

I bought an annual pass in May 2005 with my DVC discount, and it was $125 off a premium annual pass. (I think that was the before-tax discount, so figure a discount of maybe $132 on the after-tax price.) I think the standard annual pass has a discount of about $100. Florida residents already get steep discounts, so they get just a little extra discount for belonging to the DVC.

You can get this discount for everyone in your household (up to 8 people, I think, although they all must reside at the same address), so it's a substantial savings, especially when you consider that 25 DVC points (the minimum amount on a contract) can be purchased for around $2500. Unfortunately, you can't buy a small package like directly from Disney; you have to find one on the resale market, which can be tough.

I am so glad I got my 10 day tickets back in May. Yes, the prices are getting out of control, but WDW will always get my money. We're addicted to that place.
