Okay, I think I'll push this idea a little further. I believe we can get it going. I just want to make sure we don't get crushed with work load. I'll pull a plan together and see where it takes us.

Any ideas on Charities? You know what? How about one to help people like Kathy Holleger? I truly admire her courage and her fight against cancer. She is beloved here. And someone who would embody our efforts.

I like the suggestion for a cancer research organization. A couple I know about are

Not sure exactly what you want but I will say that right now we are close to upgrading the software here. I am not sure if Ken has any time to take on other projects since he is still working on a few other fixes. I would recommend PMing him since he would be the one to set any linking up.

I can set up the webpages and add some graphics to the site... At the moment I am real busy between work, family, and other fun projects that never seem to get close to being finished...

My only concerns is how would the donatons be handled and who is going to run things... We can't mingle these funds with the regular TS4MS operating money or Uncle Sam will slam Frank and I. I also don't have a lot of time to run this so someone would need to be the point person or persons.

I could set up a space on the forums (like the HOA forums and HOA pages) so that this could have a place on the site... I love the idea... I just have so many irons in the fire at this time that I need to be clear that my own involvement will be limited as I just don't have any time to spare...

I'm willing to run it. We might have to set up a non-profit corp. I'll investigate options.

We don't have to do it right away. We can start slowly and ramp up over the next few months.

You know I am ready and willing to help! My laptop was taken away from me today for the Superbowl game.

I love this idea but want as much as possible to go to the charities.

I still think a website that search engines would find first would work best. So if we did this, it could be some major cash investment initially. TUG and 4MS could really help, plus with all the members and our knowledge that something is better out there...

So much to think about.

Okay, I just worked out several of the issues that concerned me about this endeavor this morning. We don't need to set up non-profit and money does not have to flow through TS4Ms.

The money will be dispursed by the Closing and Title company directly to the charity. Commissions and expenses for selling the timeshares will go to the timeshare brokerage firm. It will all be done by a licensed real estate firm. So, it will all be above board instead of some of these sleazy closing methods. I've negotiated a very favorable split. I've gotten the brokerage firm to agree to set aside a percentage of all sales to be used for marketing purposes which we can help spend.

All we need to do is get a couple of webpages up and create some marketing programs to get this program started. We should also pick a charity. I'll ask for recommendations and then perhaps we can have a poll.

I'll write this all up and arrange for some work initiatives that can be done by volunteers and then set up a conference call where we can review and agree upon a plan.

Would you please consider The Hole in the Wall Gang Camp as your charity? It's a camp for kids with illnesses that made a huge difference in my daughter's life.

Please see my post after my daughter attended there last summer. This will help you understand how special this place is.

I don't really have an iron in this fire but charities are such a personal topic... perhaps there is a way that this could rotate as far as which charity or charities would get contributed to? I really have no idea how something like this would work so perhaps that isn't really an option...

In my research, I've learned that we need to pick only 1 or 2 horses and run with them. That's because the charitable organization has to take some action for this to work right.

In addition, I have learned from many on this board that we need to partner with a smaller charity or they won't take our donations. And, if they did, almost none of the proceeds would actually get to the cause we are supporting.

We need a special effort just to select a short list of charities that we want and can work with.

We've now got enough people who want to support this, so I think we can make something really really good happen.
