If you are asking me, why certainly. There is no charity that is going to pay off anyone's TS for them.

            Certified appraisals for timeshare properties...

I recently received information from a California Certified General Appraiser, offering his services for timeshares ($349.fee) and will prepare IRS form 8283 to be used for the timeshare donation to charity.

If anyone wants his contact info, please send me a private message.

******I am in no way vouching for the validity or value of this service. You will need to perform your due diligence before paying for his services. I simply checked his references and confirmed that he has prepared residential appraisals for a number of attorney's and financial institutions in California.

Since most certified appraisers stay far away from timeshares- I felt his info might be of use to some...

You should be aware- the charity will still have to file IRS form 8282 and disclose the actual sale price when the timeshare is ultimately sold. You may want to speak with your tax preparer or attorney as to what could result if there is a discrepancy between the two forms.

Glass Half Full or Half Empty

Interesting article about a survey of non-profits this year. Looks like most are really struggling financially.. If you find out a charity shown in this thread is no longer operating, please let me know. I'll try to update the lists periodically, but any helpful info will be dearly appreciated.

I tried the other day to donate to Turpentine Creek, and received a "thanks, but no thanks" response.

I went to their website, but was unable to find their list of timeshares that would not be accepted. I can only assume that mine made the list, however...

I sent you a PM suggesting you try giving the ownership away on the Freebie forum on this site before paying someone else to take it! Good luck...

You can get rid of your timeshare

Most of the active timeshare donation groups work with a reseller.. If what you own has a resale value- they'll take it.. You might want to consider selling it yourself and then simply donate the cash to a local charity in your area!
If you can't sell it or don't want mess with it and if you really do not want the timeshare hire a company that will transfer the title out of your name for a fee. Then you are done with timeshare you don't want to keep or pay any more maintenance fees.

                            Just guessing . . . a self-serving first post.

Pay to get into something you find out is not what was represented . . . so you can pay someone else to get out of.

Is there any wonder why TS has such a nasty reputation?

I didn't read through all the posts again, but did anyone mention checking with the association/management company of the resort to see if they would take it?
