    **AN ELEGANT AND SPECTACULAR BARGAIN**

    Famed 1995 Napa Library Selection

    Temperature Controlled Storage at the Winery

    "This is a wine I know very well having first sampled this wine almost 7 years ago, which is considered one of Tom Burgess’ most storied Cabernet vintages....most importantly this wine does not disappoint as it is that rare wine from a special vintage, kept in perfect temperature control at the Cellars, and shows that good Napa wines age gracefully and that bottle age can bring many unique enjoyable qualities.
    On the palate, the wine shows its elegance with bright, sweet well integrated tannins that are smooth and round. Still solid backbone and on the palate holds its focus with black raspberry, polished black cherry and touches of spicy oak and tobacco leaf. Enjoy this wine now and for several more years. It will be an enjoyable wine to pair with lean red meat, baby back ribs, roasted chicken, and lightly blackened fish.

    Burgess Cellars Library Release
    Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 1995

    By: Jonathan H. Newman
    1995 Burgess Library Selection Napa Cabernet
    Varietals: 80% Cabernet, 12% Merlot, 8% Cab Franc
    Appellation: Napa Valley
    Alcohol: 13%
    93/100 rating
    This is a wine I know very well having first sampled this wine almost 7 years ago, which is considered one of Tom Burgess’ most storied Cabernet vintages. The concept from Burgess Cellars is that they would library a small amount of their original vintage and re-release it at least 10 years after its initial distribution so American consumers could enjoy their top wines with nice bottle age. Few wineries have adopted this practice because of the cost of cellaring wine for a decade. These vintage selections were also intended to sell at a premium to their original release prices but given economic conditions, this is a very rare opportunity to enjoy this kind of wine at attractive pricing which gives it an attractive Quality-Price Ratio (“QPR”). And most importantly this wine does not disappoint as it is that rare wine from a special vintage, kept in perfect temperature control at the Cellars, and shows that good Napa wines age gracefully and that bottle age can bring many unique enjoyable qualities. 1995 was also considered to be a very solid vintage as most critics rated the overall vintage a 95 rating. Both 1994 and 1997 are also considered top vintages, but interestingly in some retrospective tastings I have participated in, many of the 1995s have held up among the best in the decade. The wine still has great color with vibrant aromas of plums, figs, and coffee.

    BURGESS CELLARS
    “LIBRARY RELEASE” CABERNET SAUVIGNON - Napa Valley
    Vintage: 1995
    Appellation: Napa Valley, California
    Vineyard Locations: Burgess Estate Vineyards, Western & Eastern slopes of Howell Mountain
    Grape Variety: 80% Cabernet Sauvignon, 12% Merlot, 8% Cabernet Franc

    Winemaking data:
    Alcohol 13.0%;
    pH 3.65;
    T.A. 0.62

    Harvest Notes: Due to the ideal harvest conditions with complete maturity after a cool summer, this vintage was wonderful for our Cabernet.

    Description:
    The winery’s Estate mountain vineyards again produced outstanding fruit from fully mature vines. The complexity and depth of character can only be achieved from this mountain location. This wine has a small blend of Merlot and Cabernet Franc and is aged in French oak barrels for 18 months.

    Re-release:
    This is our newest Library wine to be re-released after additional cellar aging in ideal conditions at the winery. A classic Burgess Cabernet Sauvignon, full of elegance and complexity—that’s our character. Dark fruits integrated with a bouquet of cedar, herbs, mint and an ethereal summation that can only be found in an aged, complex wine. The balance and structure makes this a great wine for food pairings which range from heartier meats or an assortment of cheeses.

                            We tried this two nights ago - it was recommended by our local wine merchant and was the best bottle we've had in a long time. drinks like a bottle twice the price or more (decant for 30 -45 mins). I can't imagine how fantastic it will with some age:

                              Appellation: Napa Valley

                              This is a wine I know very well having first sampled this wine almost 7 years ago. It is considered one of Tom Burgess’ most storied Cabernet vintages.

                              Harvest Notes: Due to the ideal harvest conditions with complete maturity after a cool summer, this vintage was wonderful for our Cabernet.

                              Description: The winery’s Estate mountain vineyards again produced outstanding fruit from fully mature vines. The complexity and depth of character can only be achieved from this mountain location. This wine has a small blend of Merlot and Cabernet Franc and is aged in French oak barrels for 18 months.

                              Re-release: This is our newest Library wine to be re-released after additional cellar aging in ideal conditions at the winery.
