This is a Monterey County albariño; if you like crisp dry white this is an excellent offering. But don't take just my word for it; here's a link to the Cellar Tracker page on albino rhino with 19 tasting notes provided by CT members.

That sounds like an interesting wine, although I do not know the primary grape. I am guessing the riesling must add some fruitiness, or to soften the acid a little. Maybe it was a little too crisp without the riesling.

Did you get the wine woot email yesterday? I have not fully read it yet, too tired from dog issues last night. Looks like they are making some changes on Monday.

The gist is that they are going to five offerings per week, M-F. The Friday offering will be up through the weekend and will be ratted, with Labrats selected from the previous week's buyers. When there is a non-wine item, it will appear on Thursday.

My take is that there must be a glut of good wine out there that isn't moving. Running specials at wine.woot enables those wineries to move product at a lower price without undercutting their existing pricing structure, while simultaneously increasing the winery exposure to wine buying group that is likely to come back and pay standard pricing if they like the product. The discussion format provides an opportunity for the winery to interact personally with that audience.

But it's got to be primarily driven by the need of the wineries to get product moving.

I rarely drink white I use it more for cooking then drinking, My wife does not drink wine but on rare times she does like a white with a bit of sweet to it, Does this have any sweetness?

This is a good summer wine. It's dry to semi-dry; just a note of sweetness. I'm not a fan of sweet white wines, and this fits my tastes nicely.

I've personally found that it goes extremely well with vinaigrette, either as a dressing or a marinade. I've also enjoyed it with Pad Thai and with scallops in a Veracruz style sauce.

I like the saying "I cook with wine, sometimes it even goes into the food". That is me. I rarely put wine in the food. Maybe I am using the wrong wine or in the wrong way.
