I haven't seen any recommendations on the wine of the day lately. And since I'm still such a novice I've been hesitating to buy anything. If anyone sees something that looks really good, please post. I'm looking to send some wine to my sil and bil as a house gift as we'll be staying with them over Thanksgiving.

I bought six of a $6 Australian merlot from the website a couple of weeks ago. It's still downstairs in its box. I think we had some of the shiraz from the same winery a long time back and it was okay, though not spectacular.
We just went out to brunch and bought two bottles of inexpensive white wine, a pinot grigio and a muscadet. We're going to try them because we need a case of decent white.

Capital Wines, nice white
The sommelier at Esca recommended this wine a few weeks ago. We loved it, and I was pleased to find it at this price ($21.95). I know that's higher than we usually spend 'round here, and it is a white, but I don't often find whites in that price range that I really love. And it's young, but very lovely as is.
