I haven't seen any recommendations on the wine of the day lately. And since I'm still such a novice I've been hesitating to buy anything. If anyone sees something that looks really good, please post. I'm looking to send some wine to my sil and bil as a house gift as we'll be staying with them over Thanksgiving.

I bought six of a $6 Australian merlot from the website a couple of weeks ago. It's still downstairs in its box. I think we had some of the shiraz from the same winery a long time back and it was okay, though not spectacular.

We just went out to brunch and bought two bottles of inexpensive white wine, a pinot grigio and a muscadet. We're going to try them because we need a case of decent white.

Frank, that Terranova (I think?) that you recommended a while back was delish. It was over my usual price range--like $13?--but really worth it.

Okay, so the reason there haven't been any recommendations posted is because there hasn't been anything really noteworthy? I'll just keep my eyes open in case anyone sees something.

I know I've found it hard to get worked up about anything. There have been deals that looked pretty good, but then the descriptions seemed a little lackluster. Or else the descriptions seemed great, but the wine was too pricey for me.

              Capital Wines, nice white

The sommelier at Esca recommended this wine a few weeks ago. We loved it, and I was pleased to find it at this price ($21.95). I know that's higher than we usually spend 'round here, and it is a white, but I don't often find whites in that price range that I really love. And it's young, but very lovely as is. So here's the link if you're interested:

Thanks for the recommendation! I bookmarked it. But this time I need a whole case of something good in the $10 range, for a party.

Anyone think today's selection sounded good?

Yes, it looks good to me. I bought six. I like that the NY Times liked it as one of their guzzle-able cheapies.

Thanks. If it's good enough for you, I'm sure it's good enough for me.

I tried to buy it, too, but it sold out as I was trying. And that was before I checked here at the 4ms. Let me know how it is!

Luanne actually posted before I got the email that the wine had changed. She must have seen it just as it came on. Good work, Luanne!
