I bought more than usual for a Cheapskate Wednesday, 16 bottles. And there were several tempting lots that I passed on. I thought the selection was great this time, though I'm sorry they didn't put up the Pouilly Fuisse.

Good morning!
Well, I bought:
4 Firestone Vineyards Santa Barbara Chardonnay 2005 (mostly for cooking and guests...no big Chardonnay drinkers in our house)
4 Bacca Bella Napa Valley Merlot 2005
4 Fleurs Du Maitre Central Coast Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve 2002
I'm most excited about the cab, but will enjoy the merlot this summer when grilling season begins.
This was a fun exercise. I just wish I'd gotten the sparkling wine....ordered too late and it was GONE! There is always next Wednesday.
Hey, Frank! I love the new wine lovers forum. Thanks for setting it up.
Cheers to you and Glitter girl!HLIW

I am very sorry to not have responded earlier, It is a learning process for me to understand how the forum spooled. I believe I got it.
As to the question of " why are some wines rated and others not";
Wine ratings come from many sources.
Some are neutral(they just love wine and want to tell all). Some sell a newsletter and email subscription(ie. Steven tanzer)to wine lovers and others have full fledged magazines where they look for ads from the wineries themselves.
Some large corporate wineries have the money to submit and run ads for
all their wines,so every vintage gets rated.
Some of the smaller wineries do not have the resources or enough growth
to need a rating.
Today there are 1000's of wineries around the world producing better wine than ever.
I taste every wine before I buy and rest assured, there are plenty of 90 rated wines that do not even come close to a 90 point score( and vice a versa)
