Wineskin - safe way to pack bottles in checked luggage

I've seen threads on how people pack wine, wrapped in towels, etc., and check it in their luggage and thought you might want to know about this safer way to do so.

I saw something called Wineskin - it's a bubble wrap lined plastic sleeve to slip a bottle in.
The things that got me is, if the bottle should break, a water tight seal keeps all liquid contained in the wineskin. Looks great to me -- you can get 5 for a reasonable price and you can reuse them up to 3 times each.

I had gotten something free in Mexico a few years back. It holds 2 bottles and it lasts for ever. Ok it's Yellow but who cares. Going back to Mexico right now so I might luck out and get 1 more.

Thanks Irene. That looks like a great idea! I just flew with 4 bottles in my suitcase and must admit that I was apprehensive taking my case off the conveyor belt!

I always take a sheet of bubble wrap with me when traveling and use it line my suitcase. If I end up buying liquor, I then cut it and wrap it around the bottle(s) and then cover the whole thing (wrapped bottle) with a plastic bag.Then I wrap a shirt or slacks around that.
Never had anything break (yet !).
Just got back from Barbados with everything intact (8 bottles).

$9.95 for 5 is a great price -- that's less than what my friend paid on our last trip to Northern California. The web site shows a Las Vegas address with a Los Angeles area telephone number so I'm not sure where the company is located.

I packed an empty 6 bottle wine shipper in a duffel bag on the flight to California. I shipped most of the wine I bought there, but I did fill up the wine shipper with a few odd bottles and brought them home with us. With the airlines charging $25 for the 2nd checked luggage item, I won't be doing that again.

I sent an e-mail contact to Wineskin. They said they do not have a retail outlet in Las Vegas and their warehouse is located in Los Angeles. So I guess I'll either have to pay $7.30 shipping to buy from the company or purchase them at retail at a wine shop.

I was getting close to asking for one of these for my birthday or Christmas, but now that the airlines are charging $25 each way for the 2nd checked bag, I'm reconsidering. There is a 6 bottle case also for a bit less $$. Looks like I will be shipping all the time, but it's not easy when you have an odd bottle or 6.
