Anyone still own at the Village Resort in Port Maquarie? They just charged over $1800 for a refurbishment fee. That, plus the yearly levy of over $700 is making it a very expensive timeshare to own. They are letting owners pay the refurbishment levy over 36 months. They're spending about a $100k per villa and will be introducing an electricity charge for each stay to pay for the air conditioning they're installing.

They have completed one villa as a display but really, 100K per villa for refurbishment is very steep.
We like the resort so will pay but it did make me wonder if whoever's responsible for the refurbishment has gone overboard with the cost. There was no mention of white ant or any structural change. I think maybe they could have been a bit more careful with owners' money. $100k per unit is a total rip off in my opinion.
I also don't like the electricity charge for each stay because there's nothing stopping them from overcharging people. No matter how careful you are with the electricity, there's always a bit of a shock at the end. I hated staying at some European timeshares that did this.Syd

It looks like a beautiful place, certainly a great location and the bungalows look to be well built and solid. I don't doubt that an investment of $3.2 million in the resort is sound but I would certainly wonder if someone is taking advantage.
I agree, the electricity charge isn't a pleasant ending to a holiday. For $100K they could install solar panels.
