  • White Point Vacation Club in Nova Scotia?

    Greetings:

I'd like to know if anyone has any first hand experience regarding this facility. Although an RCI affiliate, it seems to NEVER be available for exchange. Yet, I've never found a single soul anyhwere who has ever actually been there. Informed first hand observations and/or opinions based upon personal experience would be both welcomed and appreciated.

I met the owner/manager last Fall in New Mexico, he said it was great!

That's not exactly objective and/or informative input, but thanks....

My question remains: Any input or opinions from an actual USER of this facility with first hand knowledge and experience?

I have never seen it available on-line at RCI but then Canada isn't on my list of areas to search for.

If it helps I can add it for summer and see if we ever do see it. Then you can go and let us all know how it is.

I ask my question in part because I have NEVER been able to exchange into this place at ANY time of year anytime in the past two years, despite continuous (and still ongoing) efforts to do so. I believe that what I have "banked" for exchange has superior trading power, so I am puzzled.

I have a theory, admittedly unsubstantiated by supporting fact. I do know that they are still actively selling weeks at this resort. They may simply not be allowing any exchanges into vacant and unsold units (although that makes little sense to me, personally). If actual owners consistently USE their weeks, there may simply never be anything in the "bank" to exchange. Just a theory......but certainly worth at least what you just paid to read it.

A few years ago we stayed there for 2 days. They had a special package which included 2 nights accomodation and 2 meals a day in the lodge if you attended the presentation. If wasn't that cheap but we were touring the area and it was still a better deal than booking a hotel room. The property is on the beach and consists of the main lodge some beach front cabins and the newer deluxe hotel units where we stayed. The timeshare units were being built in the wooded areas around the property and were free standing cabins. I believe there were only a couple built when we were there so that is probably why you don't see any available for exchange. It seems to be a place people would buy to use in the summer months anyway. The units were not to large and kind of rustic feeling but of course being new they were quite nice. Check their website where they may have more information. BTW the food in the dining room at the lodge was excellent.

This is an RCI Points resort so it's quite possible that any weeks that are being banked by owners who have converted their ownership. It may be going into the Points inventory as opposed to the Weeks. Given the popularity of the area in the summer, I would highly doubt to find anything during that time frame. Here's what I see searching for 10 months out.

Thanks --- for both your input and for your search effort and results. I was completely unaware that this place is now a points resort. It may well be that my high value banked week just doesn't have the horsepower I thought it did when comparing apples and oranges (weeks and points). Thanks again.

It sounds nice and my DH would love to go to Nova Scotia. Thanks for mentioning it.

Well, my "theory" was only partly correct.....I had an informative direct exchange today with a manager at this facility. As it turns out, there are actually only 10 timeshare units in the entire White Point Vacation Club (and only a very few more are planned in the near future). Owners consistently use (or rent out) their weeks in summer months and he could not foresee any likely change in that pattern. In short, no exchange week is coming up on my (or your) radar screen at this resort anytime soon, at least in warm weather months, no matter how great a trader my (or your) banked week might be --- or how many points you might have to use.

Any updated information on this resort? I'm trying to decide whether to take a 1br unit for our family of 4. I try to avoid that, but it might be the best I would find considering the limited availability.

                      Thanks,

                      Sheila

                        Misleading, misadvertised, false information!

Theo, Whitepoint is misadvertised timeshare resort. They show private beatuiful new cabins available, when really what's available are sandwiched condos that are in a woven complex inside the community. I've talked to the owner about why a cabin is never available and he said that he thinks its just usually booked by the owners. The cabin is a 3 bedroom with privacy 10 in the availability section. I've tracked this listing for 3 years now and never once been able to book the cabin. The condos have a max 3 bedroom, privacy 8.
If what's available 95% of the time is condo units, It's false advertising on the part of both Whitepoint and RCI. I spoke with a supervisor at RCI who said they bear no responsibility for the photos that their timeshare resorts give them. Well, I differ in opinion, legally, if you own the website from which the photos are advertised, and you are partnered with the resort financially, you are both 100% responsible in the misleading information.
More lawsuits need to be filed against RCI for selling their timeshares out for money instead of putting the inventory in the banks for points and weeks owners to use as well as misleading information about the resorts. At least they don't screen the reviews, this is the only information that seems to be true.
My family won't be visiting the Whitepoint resort until they decide to post legitimate photos and I hope others find their condos satisfactory as they will never get a piece of treasure shown on the RCI webpage.

RCI - the largest timeshare vacation exchange network in the world. Timeshare exchange, community, ratings and reviews, and destinations.

We exchanged into White Point in June of this year through RCI Points and had the unit shown in the RCI catalog. We drove around the resort and we definitely had one of the two best units.

We didn't really need so much space since only four of us were able to go, but we loved the location and the fireplace was great on the cool nights and the one day it rained. A man came every morning and refilled the woodbox.

We ran into one or two grumpy employees, but the rest were just marvelous. My son, age 16, was really missing his piano, so they allowed him to go in every morning and play the one in the reception hall.

We had questions about the flowers that the gardeners planted in our window boxes one day while we were away and they invited us into the greenhouse and tried to answer our questions. Canada is WAY ahead of the US in recycling and it shows at this resort. The resulting mulch is well used to grow beautiful flowers that they put all over the resort.

They supplied rabbit food at the front desk and my youngest loved the very tame bunnies.

Lots of great beaches and other interesting place close by. The local folks were also very welcoming. We had many nice conversations with the people we encountered.

I would gladly return to the resort any time, but would be sad if we didn't get the terrific unit in the picture.

                          Sheila
