We are going here over the 4th of July and spending one night in Toronto - Saturday night. We want to be close to the Hockey Hall of Fame. Any recommendations on hotel/motels to stay?

I haven't lived near there for some time, but we used to stay at the Delta Chelsea (on Carlton and Yonge?). It was a very nice place, more reasonably priced.
Now I would probably try hotwire or priceline, narrowing it down to the area of the city you want to be near.

Will do. Before we booked it, we got several different opinions, but it looked like a good option for us and our oldest daughter & her family - they live in Clarkston, MI.

So, how did the week at CHX go?

I took the plunge and booked a week there for next July. There are lots of 1 and 2 BR weeks available on line.

The accommodations were fair, not Marriott, so like a mid ter resort. We had some issues at check-in and problems with the keys. We had requested a water view and at first was given a parking lot view. I talked with the reservations and they said they couldn't do anything. We had problems with the electronic keys working, so after the second set not working, they found us a different unit that you could see water. Our first unit was an apartment style with two bedrooms, king and two queens on one level. The kitchen was nice and the furniture OK. The second unit that we stayed in was a town house type unit with the kitchen, dining and living area on the lower level - ground level and the bedrooms on the second level. The A/C kept the downstairs area nice, but the upper level was a little warm. Downstairs faced east and upstairs face west. The kitchen was small and the washer/dryer was in the kitchen where in the first unit it was in a closet. It was hot in Canada when we were there, like 31-34 C and there were some brownouts. There were problems with the elevator as a result, but the door to unit was on the second level so it wasn't bad. The bay is at a distance and there is a dock area with boats in front probably a 100+ yards. We don't golf, so did things at the Blue Mountain area, visited the National Parks - a long drive, swam at the beach - not a Florida type beach, the water was typical lake water, rode bikes on the bike paths, etc. The indoor pool was shut down for maintenance and that made the other family pool really busy a lot of the time.

Overall I would say our experience was OK, glad to have seen the area, but wouldn't go back for a second trip.

There were 6 of us - my wife and me, my daughter, her husband and two sons - ages 7 & 9.

What do they like to do?

At this point, almost anything that gets them away from home.

Our son is an attorney (bankruptcy) so he can put in some long hours. DIL is happy when he can take a break and enjoy time with the family.

They are looking forward to a week I got them in Williamsburg next month. DIL's parents have a summer place on one of the lakes in Chautauqua County so the kids like being around water.

We spent a week at Carriage Ridge a few years back so we are familiar with the area. We did one of the cruises on Georgian Bay.

They do have free wifi at the resort and most of the time we had good connections, there were a couple of times that we lost it, but it came back up within a few minutes.

We went to Wasaga Beach and enjoyed the beach, but not the water - it was nasty looking. We did enjoy Georgian Bay Islands National Park and Bruce Peninsula National Park. We went to each one for day and it was a long day - pretty good drive, a lot of road construction, etc. The water was great, but cool in the National Parks.

The kids and grandkids went biking and hiking, a lot and had fun. They took their own bikes.
