St. Maarten-St. Martin - Hotel occupancy down in November, timeshare up
......The silver lining for St. Maarten in November, as it has been all year, was the timeshare sector. Timeshare was up 3.2 per cent to 72.7 per cent compared to 69.5 in 2008......
Timeshare occupancy rates are trending higher than hotel rates. I've heard the same type of info from ARDA reps. I don't know if they've released an official report on the subject, but this seems to be happening in most timeshare areas. At least this trend should continue to bring some good publicity to the industry.
As always, timeshare owners continue to have a major financial impact in resort areas regardless of the economy! You think more regional tourist areas would realize this and try to encourage more timeshare and fractional development.
To put it simply, ownership makes you take a vacation!
