  • Westin Aruba Timeshare

While we were in Aruba, we saw that Westin had taken over the Wyndham, and is planning on opening timeshares by 2007.

Nice....might be time to by an inexpensive Sheraton to use to trade in.....I wonder if that is an 'internal exchange' or one thru II?

Any idea on unit size? Lock-off or not?

I just bought a Sheraton Myrtle Beach timeshare.....I have no idea if that would ever trade for the Westin Aruba. Maybe it's possible to get lucky.....

When we were in Aruba, the Wyndam sign was taken down the day we met with the sales staff at the surf Club. They told us they had just found out that morning about Westin taking over. The only information they had was that Westin was going to be open by 2007. They were trying to get prices, unit options, etc., but, didn't have any of that information at that point.

I believe I just read here (TS4Ms) that another Sheraton owner had traded into Westin St John and Harborside at Atlantis...there is definitely a preference - possibly similar to Marriott??????

As a new owner of the points system in Club Regina (run by Westin--usually where they also have a hotel wing.. (I bought mine in Puerto Vallarta in March of this yr.
Wonder if WE will be able to ADD that locale to the list of others they allow us to trade into via the Raintree Vac. Club??? Any info on that yet?? Yes they are all Starwood related resorts. Beds are Heavenly alright !!

                    Bev,

I was told by a Marriott salesperson, that timeshares would follow the hotel. However, so far, I haven't seen anything else pertaining to these timesahres. I have read a few recent articles on the take over of the hotel, with no mention of the timeshares.

I have my fingers crossed that the timeshares were not just rumor....

                      Update....

                      ARUBA: June 2- 8
Filed under: INTERNATIONAL NEWS — street @ 12:13 am
The former Wyndham Resort, Spa & Casino, currently known as the Aruba Resort, Spa & Casino will be flying a Westin Flag within a year. The property was purchased earlier this year by Belfonti Capital Partners and is under management of Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, Inc.

Plans are in the pipeline for the construction of a timeshare resort, which will be run by Starwood Vacation Ownership. This $100 million project will consist of 250 timeshare units, with 1, 2 and 3 bedroom units, built adjacent to the resort. Timeshare sales will begin in early 2007, and Starwood is already marketing the Aruba Resort, Spa & Casino on its website.

It would be available thru II and also internally thru Starwood. Starwood keeps a corporate II account and other Starwood Owners have priority, like the Marriot program. The Timeshare at Aruba won't be availble till 2008 or 2009. I don't think they have started sales or construction yet.

I know Starwood has not releases pricing or options yet, but guess is they will have higher staroption values like Harborside and St John.
