Hi from Morritts

Spending 2 weeks here and everything has been great. Weather, company and food. Although the resort is not perfect, it certainly has a lot to offer. Went on the Red Sail catamaran trip yesterday and the snorkelling was fantastic! Planning on doing their Waverunner snorkel trip next.
Unlike our last experience here, the wind has not been too strong.
All in all, I could be convinced to stay forever.

We are coming for the first time in April and our two grandsons are coming along. What is the internet arrangement there? The grandsons are 8 & 10 any recommendations for them? How deep is the water at Stingray City? The 8 year old is really small and short.

Where is Morrits? It sounds like it is in the Caribbean. Good weather and great snorkeling. What a nice place to be and I don't blame you from escaping the cold weather at home but spring is almost there.

Morritt's Tortuga Club, Grand Cayman. We'll be there in 9 days! Staying for 2 weeks ... can't wait to get away from all this ice and snow.

It's on the East side of Grand Cayman and very isolated. A small rainshower knocks the satelite down, so make sure you take a set of tiddly winks because there's nothing to do after dark. There is a very nice bar out on the water but hardly anyone went there. There is another resort next door and the so called top entertainer (The barefoot Man) was playing there, we bought tickets and 4 people turned up to watch him, I felt embarrassed.
It is a 45 minute, very scenic, drive into Georgetown but the Island still ranks as the most expensive place we've been to so far, and our 1 bedroom unit was very poor.
On the good side, right off the resort bar has the best snorkeling I've done so far, with a few sharks coming in real close, I had a 5 foot White Tip Reef Shark not 2 feet away from my legs in waist deep water and a nurse shark that is/was a daily visitor. Lots of other facinating species to see.
Yes I may be biased but out of all the places we've been on timesharing, Grand Cayman is the one place I would never go back to.

I am with you on the Barefoot man and how expensive it is there. Our 1 bdr was great though. We didn't get to Rum Point until our last day, wish we woulda found that sooner. The winds were strong at the resort but the Point was calm.

I am also a major fan of Morritts/Grand Cayman for exactly the reason Ken did not like it - the isolated East End. After spending many trips to Aruba packed like sardines on the beach, Morritts is refreshingly uncrowded even at the height of the season. They have a large expanse of beach front and a small number of units relative to that.
Yes, I agree you have to make your own fun - there is not what one would call a lively nightlife but when I was there in November, there were people at the bar each evening and lots of music and friendly conversation.

New restaurant Tukka http://www.tukka.ky/ (website under construction) is fabulous (where Portofino used to be) and the on-site restaurants at Morritts and the Reef Resort are good.

Unfortunately prices are high on GC but we off set that by BBQs/eating in several nights.

All units have been renovated over the last few years and my 2BR townhouse poolside was in very good condition this last trip as was the 2Br and 1BR wooden oceanfront we had in 2010.

As the woman who was just quoted --- I can't wait to go!! Secluded beach, no crowds and quiet sounds FAB to me and I know how to make my own night time fun.

The wind is picking up today , but spent another enjoyable day at Rum Point .
We have always come here with friends, so the lack of entertainment has not been a problem.
Our meals at the Lighthouse, Over the Edge and Kaibo have been excellent (but expensive indeed)
A cheap meal that we all enjoyed was the hot Cayman beef from Hurley's . $8 including 2 side dishes. Only available on Satrurdays though. (other dishes on other days).
This is our friend's first visit here and they are wowed by the beauty of the island.
