I'm a timeshare owner in an AI in Mexico, however 90% of the guests are regular holidaymakers down on a package holiday. This is a RCI affiliated resort and one advantage I've noticed is that guest RCI members are allowed to book, at their own leisure for dinner in the special restaraunts at the member / RCI office rather than line up with the masses at a certain time in the morning. I also believe (but don't quote me) that they get more than the normal 3 nights per week at the special restaraunts than the package holidaymakers get.
That aside I have regularly priced AI vacations elsewhere in the Caribbean with RCI, and it's just not worth it.
Whilst I'm on can anyone confirm whether cruising through RCI is any less expensive than going through a specialised cruising Company.

That would not be the way to go. A good cruise company will always beat RCI by a large margin.

Thanks for that. I did recently take a cruise through RCI but it was a combined cruise plus one week at a timeshare resort, and did not involve me exchanging any weeks or using RCI points. I priced the same cruise 2 months before I travelled and it worked out about $300 cheaper than RCI but by the time I factored in the free week timeshare I reckon I was $50 down which wasn't to bad.
I was wondering if, in the future, by exchanging weeks or using points there would be a savings, but obviously not.
