  • Honeymoon Ideas

    Hello,

My fiance and I looking for a good honeymoon location. The hitch is we have waited longer than we should have to make arrangements. Our wedding is Sept. 16, this year. My parents have graciously offered an RCI week for us to use. We were hoping to find something in the Caribbean or maybe Mexico. We would enjoy some activites but are mostly seeking a quite and relaxing location that offers privacy.

We are hoping to find a Sunday checkin for Sept. 17 and we are welling to consider all inclusives, villas, or just about any option that gives us the atmosphere we are looking for.

My father says that the people on this site are very kind and knowledgable. If anyone could offer us (or me really) any assitance in finding a location if would be most appreciated.

    Thank you,
    Tim

Mexico, Grand Mayan in either Rivera Maya, Acapulco, Or Nuevo Vallarta.
In Aruba The Marriott resorts are nice.
Also look into ST Croix Hotel on the cay. Great location resort is on its own private island but the rooms are nothing to brag about.

      Tim,

Welcome to TS4Ms and congratulations on your upcoming wedding! I will have an RCI week to search with shortly, but someone else will surely jump in in the meantime. The good news is that your mid-September week falls just after the busy summer season. So while it's short notice, there may be some good last-minute inventory for you to choose from. I just reread your post; Frank has recommended some good resorts, but you won't get Marriott Aruba through RCI. Morritt's Grand or Tortuga on Grand Cayman would be a nice honeymoon destination, too, nice isolated location, very romantic/relaxing. The nicest RCI resorts I can think of on Aruba are Playa Linda and Costa Linda. I may be overlooking some.

Yes, Mexico would be the easiest place to get something on such a short notice. You will like the Mayan Palace resorts as they are big and grand. We had never seen such large resorts ever but the lakes, fountains and lush foliage make them look beautiful and romantic too.

Nuevo Vallarta has a much nicer beach than the one in Puerto Vallarta. Do you want to go to the east or west coast?

I doubt if you can find an exchange to Hawaii so late in the game.

PS. I just read now that you are considering an all-inclusive resort. In that case, I can highly recommend the Grand Velas in Nuevo Vallarta. I have some pictures under my signature file. Talking about a romantic, intimate place, this is it.

fyi, the Marriotts in Aruba have availability in II for your dates. Maybe you can find a member with an extra Accommodation Certificate they aren't using, that would get you the week for $299 or less (within the 60 day window that opens next week)... That is a NICE resort and Aruba is allegedly 'out of the hurricane belt.' I also see Divi Village, I forgot about that one. I sent friends there for a honeymoon two years ago and they were very pleased.

Thank you everyone for your responses, my father was spot on in describing the community here.

I have been doing a lot of looking at all of the various resorts that were mentioned. I think I could pick anyone and be more than satisfied (I guess that is what is making the decision so difficult). There seems to be many options in Mexico although it is not our first chioce I think it may be the most logical. If anyone has any additional thoughts or suggestions please feel free.

            Thanks again,
            Tim

              Tim,

If you look at airfares, it may help you narrow it down. You should also ask your folks to search with their week to see what is realistically attainable from the places we've mentioned. Just because we've suggested them doesn't mean the inventory is available or that your folks' week will have the trading power to pull it.

Well I went ahead and booked a resort. I ended up going with El Dorado Royale, A Spa Resort (RCI #6290). It is an all inclusive but the rate seemed reasonable for an all inclusive. The reviews I found seemed favorable but if anyone has some thoughts I would greatly appreciate them. Again thank you everyone for your help it has been very much appreciated.

                Thanks again,
                Tim and Amanda

                  Tim and Amanda,

I'm not familiar with the resort, but it looks beautiful. It's your honeymoon, it will be wonderful! Enjoy
