  • How About Grand Cayman--Should We Rent a Car?

    Six people, staying at Morritt's.

    And how's the driving there?

Yes, definitely rent a car. I highly recommend McCurley's, they will meet you at the airport and take you back to the resort, stopping for groceries on the way. You'll get the car at the resort, where the driving (albeit on the other side of the road) is easier as there is far less traffic. Then they will transport you back to the airport at the end of the week. A class operation up and down.

If you need the number, let me know and I will look for it.

We found the driving very easy, the steering wheel is on the US side so you just have to remember to stay on the same side of the road as the steering wheel.

The only traffic problems we had were in Georgetown, narrow streets and lots of lights. We parked behind the Hard Rock and walked everywhere for the two trips we took into town.

The Caymanians will know you're a tourist when your windshied wipers are activated when you were looking for the turnsignal.

Yes A car is a must have.

        McCurleys is the BEST

          Thanks.

A recent guest told us that driving in the Caribbean can be dangerous/treacherous/crazy, so we were wondering about Grand Cayman.

Nothing in Grand Cayman is dangerous/treacherous/crazy, except maybe being there during President's week of 2008 when the BigFrank clan is taking over the island...

Another vote for McCurley's. We always use them. They pick you up and drop you off at the airport, stop at the grocery store, and could not be nicer.
