    5) Seven Mile beach resort. Older property didn't see any units and you need to go through public path to get to beach. spoke to some owners who love the property and go back every year. I didn't care for the beach location since you needed to go in front of condo unit to get to beach and it appeared that most beach chairs were for exclusive use of condo owners. This would probably be my last choice but I would still accept an exchange here.
I happen to be one of those Seven Mile Beach Owners who comes back every year. We are there now. Your comments about Plantation Village and Seven Mile Beach Resort (SMB) mischaracterizes those properties. The properties adjoin each other, and both properties were completely refurbished after Ivan. The units are like new inside. Our SMB unit has all stainless steel kitchen appliance with Corian countertops. There is a kingsize bed in the master bedroom and two double beds in the other. The master bath has a hot tub. SMB still has some work to do on the tennis court and the office building, which was condemned.

SMB does have beach chairs at the beach. You just have to know what color they are. While you do have a short walk to the beach, it is no longer than the walk from many Plantation Village units. In addition, the path to the beach at SMB is technically private. The public access path is actually on the north side of the Plantation Village property. I find the beach a little wider at SMB than at PV, but the beach at that end of the beach has suffered from past storms and is not as wide as it once was. To me both resorts have the advantage over all other resorts, which is location on Seven Mile Beach. You can walk to restaurants and shopping, both at the beach and in George Town.

I'm also going to the Grand Caymen Renaissance next March.
      How was it?
I know the beach is on the other side of the road still is it nice?
How was the food at the Renaissance?
      Was it expensive?
Any good place we should be looking near that hotel?

      Thank you!

Sorry but there is no Grand Cayman Renaissance. Did you mean Marriott Courtyard which I stayed at? If so it was fine and the beach although on the other side of the road was nice and had a restaurant ( snack bar) bar, red sail sports and place to get beach towels. Courtyard guests got free lounge chairs and towels at beach but cruise visitors were charged each day for usage. There was some snorkling right off the beach and the snack bar had decent food. I had the Mahi Mahi sandwich with fries and it was very good. I also ate at the hotel restaurant a couple of times and it was just barely OK. Lots of people said the breakfast was very good there but I just had coffee and a muffin in my room for breakfast with either fruit or some corn flakes. Since My wife didn't get there until we went to Morritts I really didn't try any other restaurants by myself at seven mile beach.

Also getting into water at beach right in front of Courtyard was very rocky so make sure you have water shoes. After a couple of days i found out that if you enter the water about 100 yards to the left there was more of a sandy beach bottom so that's were I went into the water. I'm sure you will enjoy your stay in Grand Cayman. Have fun!!!!

That's what I thought. By the way we own at the Aruba Renaissance but rent it out and have never stayed there. Please tell us about the Aruba Renaissance. Did you stay at the hotel or at the Ocean Suites ( 1BR timeshare units). Would love to here about your Aruba trip.

Actually this is very bad for the fish, so please don't do it. We didn't know that when we snorkeled in Hawaii 20 years ago and it sure does attract the fish, but now is prohibited in some places. Bread also isn't good for them. Google this for more info.

              Hi Larry,

Sorry for the delay...and the long post...hope you will like the pics.

We bought our first TS about two months ago in Aruba.
(2 weeks Platinum at the Marriott Ocean Club-Resale of course...)
We needed vacations so we decided to go and see for ourselves...

We stayed at the Renaissance Marina for one week.
Nice hotel, perfect for couples without children.

At night a nice place to hang with a kind of "jetset" atmosphere

We went to the Ocean suites twice, very nice resort...Congrats!
Clean, nice pool, not crowdie at all (low season...Oct.27-Nov.03)

Nice beach imitation, employees were kind and polite.
(We even left you 2 empty chairs...)

Went there for supper for the BBQ buffet, food was good and not too pricey.
About $20/p if I remember correctly.
I remember asking ourselves about buying there another 2 weeks.
A total of one month per year...still thinking about that one...

Best all Renaissance guests are all allowed to their private island.
Nice man made beaches over there.

Wild flamingos walking the beach included!

Very nice place to be, quiet with a family and an adults only beach side.
Restaurant there was also serving a very good Mahi-mahi sandwich.

More I even made a friend...

But one of the best thing on this side of Aruba are the sunsets
              See for yourself...

So to summarize please make yourself a favor and go at the Renaissance.
Chances are good you will return often...

Thanks for the great pictures I'm just sorry that we rented out our unit again. My plan is to eventually stop renting out our three weeks in Aruba and spend two weeks in St. Marteen at the Pelican were we also own weeks 50 and 51 and then spend 3 weeks a year during January in Aruba. That would give us 5 weeks a year during the cold winters to spend away from New York where we live.

Timesharng is the best which gives me an idea for a new thread.
