  • Need Advice on Caribbean location

I have never been to the Caribbean and would like to take the family there around X-mas 2008 -- I know this will be a hard exchange, but want to try anyway. First, which islands should I focus on for great beaches and lots of scuba diving and snorkeling for the family. Second, any recommendations as to resorts to try and exchange into. I will have a Marriott deposited in II to use and a southern Ca coastal resort in SFX to use. I also could use RCI. Thanks. Tim

We love the Marriotts on Aruba. We visited a couple of years ago and am trying for another exchange summer of 2008. We also own a Marriott which I'm using as an exchange. Also the Royals in Cancun are another one of our favorites. Good Luck with your decision.

With the Marriott, you have options for Aruba, St. Thomas and St. Kitts. Aruba has more timeshares. Diving on Aruba is OK. St. Thomas would probably be better for diving. Grand Cayman is another good island for diving.

St Maarten would be easier to get at this point. Diving is good but snorkeling isn't. The best island would be Gand Cayman. Pricey though and you missed the Morritts bulkbank. You might want to think about 2009...those should be in around August/September and if you jump on it fast... I don't know about diving in Aruba but the snorkeling wasn't good except for one little area at Baby Beach. St Thomas might be possible if you will take Bluebeards Castle and more than one unit as usually I only see studios. THEN you could take the ferry to St John and the snorkeling is OUT of this WORLD!

There are many wonderful places in the world, but one of my favourite places is on the back of my horse.
