Caribbean in August?

    Caribbean in August?

    Hi, I would like to travel to the Caribbean in late August. Where is the best place to go to avoid bad weather? (Besides Aruba, I cannot go there).

    I would love to go to Barbados or St. Lucia, but I don't want to press my luck with the weather... I could probably also try to go a little earlier in July...

    Any thoughts?


    PS- Beagle, if you read this - how was the Crane? Their website looks amazing!

    I presume you are referring to Hurricanes or Tropical Storms.

    You will have to stick to the Southern Caribbean. Aside from Aruba there is Bonaire, Curicao, and Margarita Island.

    Why no Aruba? Have you been there too many times and need a change?

      Hot time, near peak hurricane season- I wouldn't be planning a trip in that time frame-- and if anyone says Aruba is out of the hurricane track- it will certainly get hit.

        The heart of hurricane season normally is mid-August through October. The official end is Nov. 30.

        If I were you, I would try and avoid the heart of the season. July would be a much better bet. Even places that aren't usually hit directly with hurricanes, (such as Aruba) can get lots of rain from passing storms.

          OK OK you guys convinced me I will go to DE instead in August!! I love it there...

          I was going to try to use the comp week that I have with RCI, maybe I will try to see if I can get something in July. Here is my dilemma:

          Jan-April - Can't travel bc my husband and I are both tax accountants

          June 7-14: We will be at Grand Mayan Acapulco

          August 4-11: We will be at Hacienda del Mar, Cabo

          November 8-15: We will be at Grand Mayan Nuevo Vallarta

          The week I have expires at the end of Sept (although, I could probably get RCI to extend it).

          Do you have any other suggestions of where I could travel during July, Aug, Sept or Oct that would have good weather? (Somewhere besides MX since I will already be there 3 times!! We live in NY/NJ area...
