Are there restaurants near by? Do we need to cab it or should we rent vans?

The only restaurants there are the one at Morritt's if it's reopened by now, and the one at the Reef next door. You are going to spend a lot of $ taking cabs (and finding enough cabs all at one time may get tricky, too) for all of you, I would look into van prices if you can find some, and plan on some barbecue dinners at the resort. Have you talked to the McCurleys?

We stayed at Morritts once and never again because it's sooo remote. A rental car is mandatory and you'll still have ugly and dangerous drives at night. Almost all good resturants are on the west end of the island - a good hour from Morretts (Lighthouse and Over the Edge excepted). Only a few can seat 24 together. Stock up at Foster's near the aiport and have a pot-luck dinner on the beach or by the pool. BTW we now own 4 weeks at Coral Sands and go every year. Love it and we walk to everything we need.

Yes it is remote but there are 3 or 4 good restaurants and the driving is not ugly nor is it dangerous but you DEFINATELY need a car Frank.
I currently have a reservation with Budget $250/week for a mid-size. Reasonable.
You can try Andy's too. I've used them before.Lawren

We just returned, and by the way we *loved* Morritts, and its location, beyond all expectations.
Davids is now open, and we liked it fine, ate there 2x - try the jerk chicken over pasta. We liked the Morritts pier restaurant for lunch. And then there are 2 decent restaurants at the Reef. And you can buy groceries almost across the street, at Fosters, and cook in.
But yes, get some wheels. We ran out of time to eat at all the restaurants we had planned on.
AND - on another subject - if possible, book the bio-bay kayak paddle thru Cayman Kayaks. It was a highlight of our week. And contrary to their rating, you don't have to be that strong of a kayaker to go on this. I consider myself a beginner and it was fine.

We go to Morritt's 1-2 times a year and love the East End! We do rent a car so we can visit Rum Point and go to the restaurants on the North and East End. Interesting drive to Morritt's from the airport along the coast. Great for seeing how the locals live. We don't like the overcrowded 7 mile beach area, especially when there are cruise ships in port.
With David's restaurant now open at the resort, they may be able to accommodate 24 with a reservation. The Reef next door could also do 24, but we like the food better at David's.
We'll be there President's week and can't wait to hit the beach with some nice warm sunshine.Vicki
