  • Caribbean suggestions for end of Sept??

I have a friend's brother getting married in the latter part of Sept and want to get away to the caribbean for their honeymoon. They had originally wanted to go on a cruise but it doesn't look like there are many available during that time because of hurricane season.

What I know about the caribbean would fill a thimble, so what would folks here suggest? Is there any caribbean islands that would be ok to visit during that time and not have to worry about weather? Additionally, these folks are not travel savvy so all-inclusives would also be a consideration. In fact, it doesn't have to be timeshares. My thinking was that because it was hurricane season, there's bound to be some good deals. However, where to go where it won't be hurricane dangerous is the million $ question.

If there are no caribbean spots, then what other options do people suggest? Hawaii? Latin America?

    Gord,

The ABC islands are pretty dependable. Aruba, Bonaire, Curacao. I was on Aruba when Katrina hit NOLA and you wouldn't have known anything was going on if you didn't turn on the TV or read the papers.

That being said, there are no guarantees.

Aruba would be the best bet though for caribbean in that timeframe.

ARUBA! We are there now and it was fun to see the bride & her attendants still in their dresses in the casino. Groom was in a muscle tee with a tie lol!

Especially for a honeymoon, I go along with Aruba. Trip insurance is poor consolation if weather ruins their honeymoon.

Since it's below the hurricane belt, Aruba is a pretty safe Fall trip. Lots of nice places (timeshares and hotels) in all price ranges and, if they don't stay at an all-inclusive, there are several really good and reasonable restaurants to choose from.

              ARUBA

Great weather, great restaurants, great beaches, wonderful people.....at this point, you could go using an AC thru II....there is a lot of availability.

                Any all-inclusive suggestions for Aruba?

I've suggested the Marriott Aruba surf/ocean but those aren't all inclusive and these two are real travel neophytes so they really would prefer AI

I would not do an AI in Aruba, to many great restaurants there that you will miss.

I agree with Aruba, and also agree that an all inclusive a not a good idea. One of the great things about Aruba are the abundance of very good restaurants. It would be a shame to miss them. BTW, they are easy to find, and get to. Your friends should have no problem. In fact, if they do decide to go to Aruba, we here can give a list of our picks of restaurants.

If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.

BTW, I'm still keeping track of how many times you annoy me.

If they REALLY can't go out to a restaurant in an English speaking country....then they WANT an AI because they just want the whole AI experience (unlimited drinks, foods, watersports) or want to pay one fee upfront to know what their costs are. Not everyone 'gets' the TS experience that we all love....go figure !

One of the DIVI resorts in Aruba does AI as does the new RIU Grand.

Would 'waste' a trip to Aruba to do an AI - how about one of the multiple Palace Resorts in Cancun Mexico?
Breezes Resort in the Bahamas is suppose to be very nice or for really upscale, Bro Coony's suggestions of Sandals Jamaica is a great place from all I have heard.

edit - I just re-read the first post.....there are MANY cruise at GREAT prices this time of year......they can fly to Miami and have a million choices - just tell them to take the travel insurance to protect them from weather realated issues.

There are many very good restaurants in walking distance of the high rise section...

and AI would be a waste in Aruba.
