  • Morritt's Tortuga Club on Hold

I have a two bedroom (6/6) Morritt's Tortuga Club,2082, Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands on hold for April 4-11, 2010.

What Airport do we use? What about rental cars - vans? Anything I should know about the resort, island, etc. We will be taking our two grandsons - ages 9 & 7.

I don't know where Middle TN is, use the closest or cheapest airport. Oh, there's only one airport at the other end GCM-Owen Roberts Int'l.

I usually end up with Thrifty but Hertz right now for your dates for only $218.50, a steal. Try carrentals.com to compare. Also check Andy's, some swear by them, I've never used them.

I returned from the Morritt's 6 weeks ago and we have friends who just got back 30th November. They told us that the last Hurricane had hit the Island pretty hard and there was a lot of debris on the Island and the staff were still cleaning sand out the pools at the Morritt's when they arrived.
Since you have a couple of kids the Turtle Farm is a must and my personal favourite was the Atlantis Submarine, it's a little pricey at approx $85 but a great chance for the kids to see the coral, fish and turtles at about 100 feet deep.
The Morritt's is on the opposite side of Grand Cayman, approx. 45 minutes drive from Georgetown, but it's a nice drive along the coastal road, very scenic.
There are some decent restaurants within a 15 minute drive of the resort and Rum Point is about 25 minutes away, it's worth a days visit and you can also book at the Tortuga for the boatride from Rum Point to Stingray City.
The best snorkling I had was right off the dock at the resort, I saw a couple of sharks right there as well as about 100 tarpon that reside right under the dock. There loads of other multi coloured fish and squid right there.

I rented my car at www.cayman.rentalcarshopper.com it gives you a full list of the cheapest car rentals on the Island.

Anyway hope this helps a little

I will be arriving the day you depart, with two 4 year olds in tow. It's a great place!!

If you book a car through McCurley's, they will pick you up at the airport in a van, stop at a grocery store on the way back, and give you your car rental at the resort. I have recommended them to several people, all have been very pleased.

Here's a good review, with McCurley's info at the bottom:
