  • Not a surprise, special assessment for Casa del Mar Aruba

Casa del Mar has just announced that it must charge a special assessment. The plans are for refurbishing and new appliances etc. But because they realize how tough the economy is, they are allowing the members to pay the fee over 3 years, helping to alleviate the pain. I believe the assessment is $600 for the 2 BR and $540 for the 1 BR. They also have plans to reconfigure the one bedroom units, improving the kitchen/dining area.

Casa del Mar is well managed, and it also has one of the lowest MF's on the island of Aruba.

Doesn't sound like a lot of money for what they're upgrading. Also, it's nice that they're giving everyone 3 years to pay it off.

If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.

BTW, I'm still keeping track of how many times you annoy me.

We stayed in a 2BR there and really liked this spacious unit.
What is the MF on the 2BRs and 1BRs?
        TIA

My Ex was there recently, absolutely loved it. The owners there are happy. This seems like an extraordinarily reasonable approach to needed refurb, I'm guessing many owners would agree.

            2 BR are $670 and 1 BR is $580.

Yes, the owners are happy, and the resort management is quite lovely. Loyal owners are the norm at CDM.

I am so happy your Ex enjoyed the time there....and yes, we find they are very reasonable in their approach....and very sensitive to owners. While I also am sure there will be the usual crying by those who must because they love to make trouble, I think there will be many who are quite enthusiastic about this, and will welcome the new look. Anytime money is involved, folks have a variety of reactions, but our experience with CDM is that they work very hard to maintain our resort at the best value while not allowing it to slide into mediocrity.
