The phone numbers have been disconnected and the website www.flagshipclub.com is now down.. Also, Interval has now removed this property from their resort directory. The owners that I've spoken with have not received any notice or update for future contact. Right now, it doesn't look good for members!
Has anyone heard or seen any official releases, or seen any legal filings or notices regarding this closure?
I was able to find a special assessment billing that went out on 9/26/09 and also on 10/14/09 which stated that maintenance fee defaults existed for the club in the amount of $223,613. The letter further stated that the special assessment payment must be received by 10/31/09 or the club would cease operations.
I made a few calls and it appears that the hotel section of the resort has not been affected and is still fully operational and accepting guests. The front desk would not disclose how many units were in the Flagship Club, or provide any information on the closure of these timeshare units.
Also, there is a Sapphire Beach Vacation Club which is affiliated with RCI. This appears to be an entirely different regime operated by Alan Rockman. He is a small private developer who has whole ownership of a number of villas onsite. I spoke with Mr. Rockman today, and he stated that his Vacation Club has not been impacted with the closure of the Flagship Club's timeshare units.
He also expressed his willingness to assist current Flagship Club owners who may have lost their upcoming reservations for this year, with deeply discounted rental rates as availability allows. He also made a verbal offer that Flagship Club owners who want to purchase his vacation club- that he would offer enrollment for $1,000. (They must show proof of their previous membership into Flagship Club).. Mr. Rockman also stated that he wants the industry and public to know that timeshare ownership at Sapphire Beach is a viable and sustainable program, that when properly managed can provide a lifetime of great vacation and travel opportunities..
For information on Mr. Rockman's offers, please visit the website Sapphire Beach Vacation Club Home or contact Mr. Alan Rockman directly at 717-439-3105.
Be aware that I have no prior experience with Mr. Rockman or his vacation club other than my conversation with him today- so as always, perform your full due diligence before making any timeshare or vacation club purchase!
