Leeds couple's timeshare scam torment - Yorkshire Evening Post
Article talks about a network of scams running out of Spain, but often with either UK or US based phone numbers.
The first scam is the most common- a caller tells you they have a buyer for your timeshare or vacation ownership at a price much higher than the market will actually bear.. They then ask for a large payment upfront.... And then the sale never occurs!
Then in this case- a few weeks later another "firm" calls and told them the first company was a scam, but that for another fee- this second company could "help" them get their money refunded! This too turned out to be a scam...
Similar multi-layer schemes are also common in the US...
