  • The Famous Green Tour Company

Well, I fell for the oldest trick in the book. Someone rang up claiming to be from RCI. I wanted to extend the life of my points by two years, so I paid £199. Oh dear. When the contract came for me to sign, it was from The Famous Green Tour Company - offering me two weeks of holiday that had nothing to do with either points or RCI. Naturally, I immediately contacted them to cancel the contract, but, too late, the money had already gone from my credit card. I got absolutely nowhere with TFGTC, of course. They are trained to stonewall you when you ring up - never mind what your rights are.

if anyone out there has had the same experience - let me know. If only to prove I'm not alone...

Dispute the charge with your credit card company. You have nothing to lose and everything to gain.

Hi Luckmara. No your not the only honest humanbeing trusting in your fellow humanbeings. I too have been conned out of 800euros, but in a different way than you. On Feb1st 2010 i answered the phone, this was the 4th time that the GREENTOUR had contacted me with an offer too good to be true. it was just that too good. They some how get your phone number on your return from holiday in Benidorm. Ive been on scores of their trips and felt i could trust this well known large british company i was wrong.
So here's what i have done so far and i hope it will benefit you or at least stop anyone else being robbed in this way. After I stopped phoning, then i emailed, and lastly i wrote to them, Some banks have a service called charge back, it's their FRAUD dept. Now i've turned my details over to the european trading standards in 29 EU countries thier address is... ! Sylvan Court. Sylvan Way. Southfields Business Park. Basildon. SS15 6TH. Phone (0) 8456 04 05 03. I hope this is of some help if not to us, It may send a message to any other trusting people out there who owns a credit card. good luck and all the best.. jamws

            Thanks

Thanks for replying, and to all who have replied. I am currently disputing the payment with my bank, who are being very helpful. I wish I could say the same about the real RCI. They have been spectacularly unhelpful, and seem to care very little that their name is being used to defraud people. One other thing that I have realised: where the conmen get your details from in the first place. How do I know this? Well, when we signed a contract on one particular (legitimate) purchase, a subtle spelling mistake was made in my address - just one vowel different. This error has been repeated by the conmen ever since, I have realised. Worth noting...
