  • Suggestions on where to stay in Scotland

My husband and I are thinking about visiting Scotland in summer, 2007. We'd like to see Edinburgh and Glasgow, and places nearby. Where would you suggest that we stay. I heard Cameron House is fantastic. We like historic places, scenic places, etc., but we aren't into golf.

    Any suggestions would be appreciated!

      Scotland update

Thanks for the links. I actually had read your posting around the time you wrote it. It was one of the factors that got me thinking of going to Scotland in the first place.

        castle trail

We stayed near Aviemore which is too far to visit Edinburgh and Glasgow.
But we followed the castle trail and malt whisky trail and had a great time.
        People were so friendly there.

We stayed at Kilconquhar and it was fantastic. One hour outside Edinburgh but another hour to Glascow.

Has anyone heard of Duchally in Scotland

SFX has offered me a week there for July 2007. I can't find any reference to it. If you know anything about this resort, please let me know. It's web site says it's 1 hour to Glasgow and 1 hour to Edinburgh.

              Duchally

I asked a similar question on the TUG boards. There was a TUG member who stayed at Duchally recently. They enjoyed their stay at Duchally. Apparently it's in the countryside, but only 2-3 miles away from a train station that allows easy access to both Edinburgh and Glasgow. So it sounds like SFX set me up in a nice place, that met my request for access to both cities.

Although I'm not going until 2007, I'm very excited about this first transaction with SFX.
