  • Castles in Loire Valley

Which timeshare resort or DAE property home will be a good base to stay a week to visit the castles in Loire Valley, especially:

    Château d'Azay-le-Rideau
    Château de Chambord
    Château de Chenonceau

    Thanks in advance!

I don't think that there are any RCI or II resorts in the Loire Valley or close by. There are some vacation cottages that DAE gets in that area. I would look at the vacation property list on the UK DAE website to look for specific properties.

Why trying to get a timeshare? There are so many other alternatives in France. Look here:

You can even go by boat or barge and these trips are the best. Some of our friends have taken these trips and rave about it.

Emmy, thanks for those great websites. In the 80's we lived in France for a bit - the accommodations were easy to find and small hotels/BnBs were delightful. We spoke the language, but the French can be very gracious to visitors and one can navigate the country quite well with English. We too have had friends go on the barge trips coming back with enthusiasitic reviews. Maybe for our 30th anniversary we'll do that!

        Hope

Some of the DAE properties are actually in chateaux. To me that would beat a modern timeshare or a modern hotel if you could get one.

Which ones are chateaux? I checked the DAE property list, and do not see any.

If we rent, our banked weeks will expire.

The chateaux are all in the vacation properties list rather than the resorts list, as I recall. These are also deposited for exchange, not rentals. I have seen at least a couple of the chateaux on the availibility list from time to time and have posted at least one of them on the Sightings board here.

                Rentaweek,

If you decide to go, please remember that I can fit in a 27" suitcase without any problem.
