Hi, I am in the beginning stages of planning a holiday to Italy for May/June for my boyfriend and myself (late 20s early 30s). I was thinking of flying into Rome and spend about 4 nights there -- take the train to Florence and spend a few nights there then end with 6 or so nights on a beach nearby. The perfect place would be both walking distance to a beach (or on it)/beautiful scenery and walking distance to restaurants for dinner and some nightlife -- bars/pubs, etc.
I was looking at an area close to Pisa called Viareggio but have heard mixed reviews. I could also reorganize the trip to stop in Florence first then head to Rome and to a beach after that if there was an area closer to Rome that would suit.
Please let me know if you have any suggestions! Thanks
