Strasbourg, France & Freiburg Germany, timeshares...

Does anyone know of any timeshares in the Strasbourg area of France? Or, in the Freiburg area of Germany?

II doesn't seem to have anything as far as I can tell.

I tried checking RCI's directory, but it's very difficult to figure out where in these countries the timeshares are located....I did find a few near the Black Forest in Germany, so those are most likely within an hour or two of Freiburg. I'm really just not sure, tho. Couldn't find anything near Strasbourg, but again, I'm really just not sure.

Erlenbruck in Hinterzarten is the best bet. There is also a second timeshare in Hinterzarten.

Hinterzarten is on the direct rail line to Freiburg. Erlenbruck gives a free regional railpass to each timeshare occupant which will get you to Freiburg and quite a few other interesting places in Baden-Wurtemburg. It will also get you over the border to Basel, Switzerland. It will get you close but not all the way to Strassbourg, and you can buy the ticket for the short distance not included. Trains run at least hourly from Hinterzarten to Freiburg. Freiburg is on the main north-south rail line. The station in Hinterzarten is walkable from Erlenbruck, but it is a longish walk.

Erlenbruck is an old hunting lodge from the 18th century and out at the very edge of the town.

I did see the other location (Adler Bellevue Ferienclub E.V.) in Hinterzarten. I think they may be the same timeshare, just different buildings? I'll have to go back and check.

OK, thanks.....Like I said, I'm very confused with these timeshares. Lol. I'll check into the ratings, and availability of each of them.

Looking quickly, I couldn't find any reviews on the Adler Bellevue timeshare, but the connecting Parkhotel Adler has very good reviews. The Elenbruck also has very good reviews, so things are looking up.

The train is generally a good way to get around, but for Colmar, the magnificent castle at Haut Konigsberg, and some of the smaller medieval French towns in the area, it is best to use a car. There is a French north-south rail line you can take out of Strassbourg that will take you to Colmar and some others, but a car is much easier for all the French sights other than Strassbourg. Freiburg is ~30-45 minutes by train from Hinterzarrten.

Brings back memories of when we lived in Alsenborn and drove south to enjoy Alsace-Lorraine. Strasbourg is a wonderful place to visit. Colmar was nice. Ribeauville and Riquewihr are our personal favorites in the area.

Perhaps this is the trip where you should ditch the timeshare and arrange to travel from one B&B to another so you may enjoy the area? There is nothing like getting to know the folks by living and traveling amongst them.

I hope you have a wonderful trip to the area. Be sure to sample as many Cremants as you can. Even the average ones are worth tasting.

We would most likely stay in a hotel/BB somewhere in the Strasbourg area, and then perhaps one of the timeshares in Germany. I'm really early in the planning, so things could change.

I googled pics of Ribeauville and Riquewhir, and they are just so beautiful, as is Colmar, and the area in general. They look like fairytale villages. So pretty!

I'll be sure to sample as many Cremants as possible. No problem there. Lol.

Sounds like a combination of a car & the train is what will work best....I love the idea of being able to experience France, Germany & Switzerland all within miles of each other. Being from the states, I think thats really cool!
