  • Best Exchange Company to use for Italy???

I am planning a trip to Italy in the summer of 2008. I would love to get a timeshare in the Tuscany area to use as a base for exploring. What exchange company would be best to use for this (RCI, II, SFX, other)? I belong to RCI (both weeks and points) and am in the process of joining II. I have had an ongoing search in RCI with no luck. It has pulled up a few nice resorts but only 1 bedroom units. One problem I foresee is that I have 5 in my family so probably need a 2 bedroom unit. Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Tim

I'd be also inclined to look at DAE (Dial an Exchange).

The 1BR issue will probably be an ongoing problem, perhaps a hotel room or two to help.

If RCI is pulling acceptable IBR places I'd go that route, Hotel nights too.

I only know what I've seen in RCI and DAE. There are so few resorts in Tuscany, your chances are pretty slim for a 2-br summer especially at this date. Out of the various trading company options you mentioned, RCI points is probably best, but no guarantee.

If you have to exchange, you might consider bumping your trip to 2009 and get started with your search right at the 2-year mark. Otherwise IMO for 2008 your best bets would be to widen your search area to more areas of Italy (from which you might overnite in Tuscany either mid-week or before or after a TS stay), or else make back-up plans to rent a villa, apartment, or hotel room(s).
