Sunday in Dublin

Going to only have one full day in Dublin in June and it is a Sunday. How "open" is the city? We were going to do the hop on hop off bus, but it does not seem to operate on Sunday's which got us wondering how closed up everything is going to be. Anyone know?

The most fun we've had in Dublin on a Sunday is to hear the live trad music at the Brazen Head Pub. This is the arguably the oldest pub in Dublin dating back to 1198 and is very atmospheric. If you only have one day in the city be sure and stop here for a pint! The musicians play in the front room on Sundays from 1-4 p.m.

There are several Dublin HOHO buses, and as far as I know they operate on Sundays. We used one of them when we were in port there on a Sunday in April of last year.

If search Google for Dublin hop on hop off (spell it out) bus, you will find links to several of them. Some of the companies offer a discount for on-line booking.

At least downtown, the major stores were open. A highlight was going over to Trinity College and seeing the Book of Kells.

I don't know if everything was open in Dublin on Sunday because we cut short our sightseeing to have lunch with a couple from Dublin that we had met on a previous cruise.

Heritage Ireland

I believe that many museums are closed on Sunday - because when I was there in 2007, we chose to go to Newgrange Newgrange Ireland - Megalithic Passage Tomb - World Heritage Site instead...but WOW, was that great!

Best accommodation in Dublin city
If you ever come to Dublin, from my experience I would suggest you to stay in D4hotels not only because they are cheap but also they give you the luxurious experience.
