  • Amsterdam?

Does anyone know if there are any nice timeshares close to or in Amsterdam? I saw one that was nice in the Dutch countryside but didn't know how close it was.

My husband mentioned that he would love to visit Amsterdam, and I've been there once before but I can't remember that much about it... kidding lol

    There's this one here
It trades with RCI. Tripadvisor gives it pretty good reviews. I'm not sure if there are any others that someone may know about.

I wouldn't want to outside the city, so I'd be looking at Cheap Flights, Hotels, and Rental Cars -- Discount Airfare | Priceline.com for a good rental. We got a beautiful 4* Marriott in a wonderful location for less than $100.00 a night (dollars, not Euros).

I think you'd be disappointed with Zandvoort.

We didn't look at the actual timeshare, but some years ago we traveled by train from the center of Amsterdam to visit the beach. It required a change of trains, quite a trip, and the beach is no better than you should expect in a northern country. Revere Beach in Massachusetts or Coney Island in NY are nicer and more interesting.

I stayed in Zandvoort once in a timeshare but this name doesn't ring a bell to me. It was a studio for four people but there wasn't much kitchen which didn't bother us too much for dinner but they had to bring us some plates, cutlery, cups and an electric coffee pot so we could make some coffee and breakfast. There was a small fridge but no cook top or microwave either. It's a very long time ago so it may have changed by now.

We enjoyed our stay as we made long beach walks to other beach cities and then we took public transportation back after a nice dinner in town. We went to Amsterdam one day too but you'll have to take a train. I would stay in Amsterdam if that is what you want to visit. For the beach, we prefer Noordwijk or Noordwijkerhout. The last one was our favorite when we were teenagers and rode our bike to this beach. Rent a bike and there is enough to see around this area but I don't know about Zandvoort?

Also the timeshare in Zandvoort is very small - only 4 or 5 units - and difficult to trade into. It is also scheduled to go out of business in the next year or two.

Thank you all - I will look into the link for an inexpensive hotel as it seems that there is not too much opportunity for a nice timeshare..

Less than 100 per night for a 4 star Marriott is great!

If you've never used Priceline before, read BiddingForTravel.com - The informed Priceline Travel Bidding Forum for an excellent explanation of how to bid on Priceline and feel confident and get the best hotel possible for the least amount of money. You'll feel better if you've read their primer. As the first listing under any city, biddingfortravel.com has a list of the hotels Priceline uses in the city and the *level for the hotels. They list them in the areas of the city that Priceline uses for their bidding. After you've checked that out, then look at the forum and see what people are bidding on Priceline and getting accepted for what * level in the part of town you want to be in.

It's true on Priceline.com you won't know the exact hotel until the bid is accepted, but you'll know the location within a few blocks and you'll know the * level. We bid for 4* hotels in the part of town we want and figure with a 4* we aren't going to go wrong.

Good luck--let us know what you get.
