  • Verizon new "plus Mexico" plan

Just got off the phone with Verizon. They have a "Plus Mexico" plan that lets you use your Verizon cell phone and minutes for $15 extra per month and it can be pro-rated. It is not available on all plans, so I had to upgrade my plan for the month, but I was also able to suspend my husband's phone line while we are gone. It was pretty much a wash. They also have a "plus Canada" plan available.

    Fantastic!!

We just came back from PV and my Verizon cell phone worked great!! I could call to the US and within Mexico and it just went against my minutes - no extra fee. Since most resorts charge for local calls, I probably made my money back right there. And when you call a Mexican cell phone, the charge is usually by the minute - no extra cost on the Verizon plan. Another feature, my daughter lives in the UK - I could dial my US calling card 800 number and call her for .06/minute instead of the .55/minute it would have been for a Mexico-UK call using the same card. Not to mention no longer having to stand on a noisy PV street corner to use the pay phone.

I will definitely do this again the next time we go to Mexico.

Are u able to drop the coverage now that u r back?
Please post again when your next month bill is available to see if it REALLY was only $15 +tax.

This is sure good information - hope it pans out.

        Pat,

I already got the bill and I had minutes to burn. No surprises - believe me I was a little leery - it just seemed too good to be true. And yes, I was able to revert back when I got home. Matt at Verizon even called me to remind me. - can you believe that? Super service!

            Verizon

We used the Plus Mexico plan last October. We were there for 3 weeks and our phone worked perfectly for local and US calls. For me, at Verizon's lowest plan, there was no increase in cost at all. I told them the date I would be back in the US and they switched my plan back automatically. It is a great deal!
