    Hi Travelbug,

I'm not sure what Spence's definition of "close" is, but I disagree with his statement. It takes about 5 minutes to walk down the street to the beach below Ocho Cascadas. It's a small, uncrowded beach, with enough sand for lounging, and interesting rock formations for snorkeling.

Here's a photo, taken from Villa 6. You can't see much of the sand, due to the buildings, but you can get an idea.

Granted, the walk back up the hill is much more demanding, and you might want to pay a taxi a couple bucks to take you back to the resort!

You can see a lot more photos of the resort at my photo website...

Thanks Collinsc, that was more what I was expecting; not right outside the front door but within walking distance. Either way, I'm leaning towards a week at Ocho Cascadas with our 2nd week in Aruba as always. The resort is just too spectacular to miss. Will finalize sometime in April or May.

Other than through the exchange company, is there another way to rent w/o paying resort prices which I assume are probably close to double these prices?

I think the best way to obtain a rental would be from the developer's inventory of units that weren't sold in the 3-year contract extension. If you send me a private message with your phone number, I'll have my friend there contact you with current availability.

          Regards,
          Chris
