Timesharing is rife with scams and this outfit seems to be mentioned very often and may be in the running for the new Mexican king of scams.

      Another LaJolla Victim

We were not interested in purchasing there, until we were told they would purchase our RCI timeshare. Come to find out, all they did was place it "for sale" with Phoenix Vacations, meanwhile we purchased at LaJolla since we thought ours was sold.

We still wouldn't know if I hadn't called Phoenix and put the questions to her. Yeah, no they haven't found a buyer yet.... wtf.

So, we shall go through the processes like all the other victims in hopes of getting our money back. Can you say "Fraud"

I think that all of us will have to write to the President of Mexico, to our own US or Canadian leaders, locally and federally, as well as get in contact with our local tv and newspapers to do a complete documentary to expose these scam artists.
They cannot be allowed to tell people one thing, while meaning an entire different thing, and then get people to sign a prepared statement saying they weren't "promised anything else", again misleading people.
Yes, LAJOLLA is single handedly putting shame on a beautiful city. I will NOT return. I feel very much violated, in fact, raped of my very hard earned Canadian money, which I don't even have because we put it on Mastercard! Waiting for this sale to be processed of our other timeshare at RCI. Nice mess now, we own two. They should be locked up and throw away the key!

I'm missing something, and don't think I'm agreeing with the resort. If the documents you signed said something other than what you were told during the presentation, then why did you sign them?

In other posts I have stated that as an owner at LaJolla, I am concerned about the sales tactics - especially when they offer to take a timeshare off your hands and do not do so. I am also concerned about how they have been selling units in the tower that is not complete for the RCI Points system since there is nothing to use for an exchange. I do not approve of these methods of selling timeshares.

But, I will state that we purchased the month of June in the Diamond 2 Villa when it was under construction in February 2008 knowing that we could not go until June 2009. We have been to the LaJolla twice now and have confirmation for June 2011. We got what we purchased and love going there and plan to do so for a very long time as we wanted a small private resort to take our friends, family & grandkids to that was on the beach and seemed like a private retreat.

I am not defending the sales staff, I just want to say that the resort is nice.

                      Pittle,
I appreciate the resort itself. Just not the sales tactics (trickery) used to get me to buy there. On that principle alone, I want a refund. It's a shame too because that part of it was okay fine with us. But I won't own with people who have lied to me.

Actually the translation is not correct because there are errors in the Spanish version. My translation ( as close as possible considering the Spanish is poor ) is as follows:

They are there to rob you of your money. It doesn't matter what they do or say, they make thousands of promises but they rob you in the end. "They are the embarrassment of Mazatlan" it is a sad thing for a precious city but La Jolla is responsible for chasing away the little tourism that there is at this time. They make fun of the tourism and PROFECO and there is nothing one can do to stop them.

This is not new. It has been going on for years and years at many of the Mexican timeshare resorts. The Mexican legal system is not like the US. "Caveat Emptor" ( buyer beware ) is very much alive in Mexico as it has always been.
